My Major
Started out in Business Administration and changed in mid-stream majoring in Spanish.
Never used the Spanish and wound up owning a trucking company in New York/New Jersey. Sold the company 18 years later and went to a major trucking company and worked in contract administration. Was transfered quite a few times to Atlanta, Charlotte and, Fort Worth. Retire to Cape Coral, FL living there for 8 years and finally moved to The Villages. One of my activites is taking some on line courses to polish up on my Spanish and at the same time helping Spanish speaking people to learn English. Love doing this. |
Sounds to me that you're putting the Spanish major to real good use.

Major and life work
Majored in broadcast journalism at Southern Illinois, then got a newspaper job. After working my way through college in small radio stations, I never again worked full-time on the air, though I did do a lot of part-time gigs and had a free-lance sideline career as the voice of a lot of companies in radio and TV commercials in the Midwest for years.
Ended up spending 40 years (so far) as a newspaper reporter and, now, editor in Illinois and Florida. Would like to retire in about 3 years and TV looks very good to me (I visit frequently; it's only 110 miles from my house to Spanish Springs). With the state of our industry and my employer, though, I may be "freed" somewhat earlier than hoped. |

I noticed that this is your very first post here, and I just wanted to tell you that I really like your screen name. (or should I write 'screenname'?) Anyway, cybrgeezer is a wonderful name. It is kind of an oxymoron. I know that I really need to be more careful about throwing words like 'oxymoron' around or somebody here might suspect that I am (or is it was?) an English major. Welcome, cybrgeezer. And what a great name you have. Boomer |

Electrical Engineering. Used it to get my first job with IBM and maybe the some the first couple years. After that never really used much of what I studied.

Masters in Social Work and Health Services Administration.

Technical degree in Electronics at RCA, (techinician's course), that eventually lead to computer technician, LAN Administrator, Operations Specialist and presently pursuing a degree in being retired in TV, (a really worthwhile goal).

Declare a Major or else!
Quote:
I think he is addicted to school. This guy loves going to school, has taken classes evenings all his life. They finally told him at the local community college that he couldn't take anymore classes for credit unless he declared a major. (As he has 2 masters and a PHD in math already he hadn't declared.) He said Ok fine I think he has finished 2 more BAs since then. Bureaucracy got to love it. (NOT) |
