Just calm down already, God forbid someone driving a cart 20 mph and 20+ feet away isn't wearing a mask. Get real. And if you're that paranoid, just hide under your bed.

Why does that concern you?

One good reason is that they are not available. There are other reasons but that is for another day.

People who don't have any actual need to wear a mask (such as people driving in their cars with the windows up) don't concern me on a personal level. However, they concern me on a community level. Those are masks that could have been better used by people who actually need them, who can't - because those masks are no longer available to the people who actually need them.

One mask in the hands of someone who doesn't need them, is one mask fewer that someone who does need them, has access to.

As for the N95 masks - some people had them already. They shouldn't be obligated to give them up. I would just like to see people using them responsibly and not wastefully.

I have boxes of nitrile gloves from a couple years ago. They're for people who work with dangerous substances such as printers ink. Very thin, but not as thin as the latex exam gloves. Much more durable, and they can be sanitized for re-use as long as they don't break. I'm not giving them up. I actually use them, when it's appropriate for me to use them.

I have experience as a first responders working with bio and chemical weapons response. I was involved in the anthrax response in 2002. If you think just wearing a N95 mask is the end all protection then you are wrong. First you MUST be fit tested with a pressure machine to ensure proper fit. This includes positive and negative pressure tests. I know no one has gotten that done. A mask is most efficient in an area that there is a high concentration of a hazardous substance such as a hospital. In areas that are more open especially outside there is a drastically reduced contagion. If you maintain a distance you will be more effective than wearing a mask within 2 feet of someone. I also see people wearing nitrile gloves and while it protects your hands, I see almost everyone cross contaminating other parts of their body, phones and bags because they touch them with the glove. This now becomes pointless to wear PPE. COVID is an ingestion/inhalation hazard not a permeable or penetrating hazard so wearing gloves doesn’t provide any additional protection. If you wash your hands before touching mucous membranes you will do a better job stoping contamination. You also must wash you hands after removing gloves no matter what. Doubt most are doing that.
5 healthcare workers got the Ebola virus in 2014 in The US. All got it because they improperly doffed (removed) their PPE. Simply wearing a mask, gloves won’t give you protection if you don’t properly wear it and remove it. It lends a false sense of security. If you choose to use this PPE you have a right but know how to properly use it. If someone doesn’t use it don’t condemn them because they may have more knowledge of better ways to stay protected. I know someone will question my opinion based on the experts on TV telling everyone to wear face coverings. This is a basic response to the general public who don’t have an advanced background. It is also a psychologically positive effect.

I wear the gloves and constantly clean them with disinfecting wipes which I take with me in zip bag and wash the gloves while wearing them as I would my hands. Then wash my hands. I know some are laughing at all these precautions but in another year let’s see how many laughingly now will still be around? (I hope everyone will be, I love you all.)

I was wearing gloves before it was a "thing" in the USA. I usually wear gloves when I'm working with freight in cardboard boxes. I don't have enough friction on my fingertips to safely grip a big cardboard box with stuff in it. I use the gloves for friction, not protection from virii. The nitrile gloves are comfortable and fit me well, and don't break as easily as the latex exam gloves, so that's what I use. They're also really handy if you have mold or mildew in the bathroom or under the sink or in your dishwasher, and need to clean it off without getting that stuff all over your hands.

That’s What I do. No gloves but When I have to shop I take a baggy with 4 - 5 alcohol wipes for the cart handle, keypad, etc. When I get home I wash my hand immediately, so far, so good.

Hey there now! You know the rules and policies about an Amazon Third Party Supplier sending an order that had NOTHING to do with what is ordered?? The bad news is I didn't get the mask's that were earmarked for a few people who could use them. The good news is the $39.95 refund for getting hammered has been processed.

The next call was Synchrony Bank. They identified the customer (US) as Good As Gold. No questions No investigations and No B.S. They asked one question. Mr. Nucky did you try to contact Amazon Directly. I answered yes but all that was available was a virtual assistant and I don't talk to computers. The story ends there. Mission Accomplished. Karma, a Beautiful thing.

Our next door neighbor scratched up 3 M95 not N95 masks and we left them on the porch of the people who could use a boost just about now. I have to check out the difference but I'm Masked out today.

So in the end analysis rules and policies with Vendors are NOTHING. I got my money back.

Congrats! As for the masks - might they be the KN95? Somewhat different, made in China, recalled in several states but still better than no mask or a tee-shirt mask (which has negligible use and is uncomfortable, as I can personally attest to)

Not concerned, just curious. Maybe they know something that could help others.

you have no idea what your are talking about -- maintain your 6 foot perimeter -- or just stay in your house == the masks made of cotton will make little or no difference -- it will not protect you from getting the virus unless it is an n-95 and as far as some one else who might be shedding the virus -- it they did sneeze a homemade mask would not stop the virus from escaping -- maybe 2 percent protection -- so keep wearing useless cotton on your face -- I will not

If you can't walk down the street because the air is filled with Covid-19 then we are in really deep trouble!
If you want to wear a mask at all times... then simply wear one.
Why can't we simply use common sense?
