It said a married couple making less than $150K
will be eligible for the checks of $2,400.

That seems ridiculous to me. :ohdear:

We have Family members and a young Friend (Orlando Restaurant Manager) who have already been affected financially by this Pandemic. We have already helped them some and will continue to do so as needed. That is where our checks will go.

The check is to be spent so as to stimulate the economy. Unfortunately some of us are not fortunate enough to receive a higher pay back from Social Security like my brother worked hard all his life and he only got 625 a month! suck it up buttercup

Why do non citizens get money?

I couldn’t agree with you more. Those who have not lost income should be happy and not use the government’s money. Of course, there are a lot of other things government officials provide themselves resulting in more money which they should not do either.

There are no "rules" for how to spend these checks. It's your money. Do with it as you please. You don't think you deserve it? It's a great opportunity for donating to charities. Give it away to loved ones. You can send the money to the Treasury Department's Bureau of the Public Debt. I'm not getting the guilt here. No one says you need to keep it.

That said, there are many small businesses around the area that could easily benefit from people spending this money there. That's helping the local economy. That's helping local employees.

By the way, there are many places in this country where $150K in income (couples) is far from being wealthy. Try living around the NY metro area on that income. Don't even ask about the San Francisco area. If you're single and making up to $75K in NYC, good luck with your living arrangements.

The amount of annual income, should also include those drawing yearly from investment income.

In other words, as far as I'm concerned, ALL money flowing into a household, regardless of the source...should be used in calculating who is eligible to receive money from this bill.

While I shouldn't qualify for anything on this new relief bill, if there is a screw up and "they" end up sending me any amount of money...it won't be with me for long.

If you read/hear about someone wandering around grocery stores, handing out Benjamin's (with gloved hands of course) to those appearing to need it the most (and yes, I realize that one can be fooled by appearances)...I say in advance that I don't know anything about it.

According to several news outlets, there IS a limit to how much a family can make and receive the money. You said $100K but I believe the limit is $75K, but I may be mistaken. Part of the idea of giving folks money is to put the money back into the economy so that we don't fall into a depression. I don't know if it will work, but they think it will and some experts feel that it is worth the try. Some folks will get the money that others do not believe deserve it. What's so different from welfare recipients getting money that some feel do not deserve it? Some Villagers are on a limited income and to pay extra to shop all over three counties looking for TP or some other item NEEDED or to order delivery or shop on line for items, is an added expense. Just saying.
I am not arguing your opinion, just stating my view on the subject which is not a whole lot different than yours; just looking at it from a different angle.

If you were living on your income without the $1200.00 you don't need it--it will be in the form of a direct deposit if you are on SS--
Too bad there isn't a method to block the payment--I'm not being selfish, because we are above the income guidelines

Any government in this Country has no money. They can only redistribute hat they have taken from others (you). Wait till you get the bill with interest, new tax rates.

If you filed already for 2019, then the amount of your check is based on 2019. If you have not filed as yet, it will be based on 2018 returns.

many seniors work to make a living wage. Not easy to figure out who so all who pays taxes deserve the benefit

You are so right! That is why we are giving hours to some local charities.
