Does Any Of This Discussion Further Our Ability To Understand The Issues?
We're all doing exactly what the campaign managers and partisans want us to do. We're wasting time before Election Day throwing mud back and forth when we should be demanding information on the real issues facing the country and how the candidates will address them.
But maybe most of the electorate is satisfied to be fat, dumb and happy. Dumb in not demanding more information and happy with only the intramural pillow fights that occur here on TOTV. Until we change our pre-electoral behavior, we'll continue to get exactly what we deserve with the officials we elect. |
Re: Charles Martin debunks the Sarah Palin rumor attack
Yes, politicians have a right (and even a duty) to fire those who don't support them but it seems Palin carries it to extremes. At least twice that I know of she has been questioned about her right to dismiss certain government employees -- once she was vindicated in that she had the legal right but some still question the moral right of her actions, the other she is under indictment at this time. That is a little more than putting in your crew. Actually, I think Rice would be a great choice for either side as Secretary of State (and I stated as no big fan of her).
As to the book banning issue. Just the idea that she would raise the question is a concern to me. And I still have a copy of my Little Black Sambo from my childhood. And it is a racist book but not in the sense most Americans think it is. Sambo was a member of the outcasts, so making him appear clever was pretty much a slap in the face to many Hindi. And if you read what I said, I didn't deny that the rumors could have started with the Dems, I just said the first time I heard any of the rumors was by Republicans. |

Didn't the Clinton's carry it to extreme when they fired the travel office employees??? To top it off they slandered them. Bill fired all the prosecutors, when he took office. It was his right and I think the thing to do. When Bush fired eight of them he got crucified.

__________________________________________________ ____________ Do not start applying logic to this.....it will just confuse everyone :) Understand...Sen Obama said he was for town hall forums in the primary but now he is against them.. Sen Obama was very explicit about how he would fund his campaign but changed his mind and is not accepting public funding.... This is ok, you understand :) |
