Well coming from Maryland, it will be a refreshing change over the far left views here. I don't imagine that politics will be on my mind as much in TV. Too much else to do.

Yep! :a040:

I read these posts with great interest. My wife and I are currently getting our act together to make the move (hopefully by Spring of 2012) to TV. We area little concerned about the Republican leaning thought in TV. Believe me everyone has the right to have their own opinions political and otherwise. We are planning to just keep our opinions to ourselves and to enjoy the wonderful lifestyle TV has to offer.

Don't let people fool you. Nobody goes around talking politics. This is a happy place and I don't mind sharing it with lefties. Mostly, nobody knows who is what because nobody goes around and asks.

I hear what you are saying skyguy, but therein lies the dilemma.... you are thinking in terms of having to tolerate (or not!) and still getting your gut in a twist.

Think about how that affects you.... because, in reality, no matter how you try to enlighten others, you are really pushing AGAINST what you don't want.
I know that well, I did it for years. Doesn't work.

Instead, ALLOW them to be, do and say what they want and don't become entangled. Sing a tune in your head, plug your ears and chant, "La La La", imagine them with pie on their face..... whatever it takes to change the channel in your head.
And when you leave their company, (whenever you feel so inspired) DON'T regurgitate the unpleasantness over and over again in your mind, or retell the tale to another. You'll just twist your gut again, and that harms you more than you know.
Let that crud go and put your focus on things that please you and feel good to focus upon.

"They" can dance somewhere else. And so can you.
Takes a little practice to pull off.... but becomes easier each time.
One of the best things I ever learned!

What you say does make a lot of sense, however it is difficult to try and do what you've suggested. I've been regurgitating unpleasantness ever since the right made issues over Clinton's use of cigars, then the left started their campaign of what IMHO was more revenge than substance following the 2000 election results. And now it's because of the demonizing of people over their views about America's direction or misdirection. With about 25 years of it, it does add up.

I'll try, however to take your advise, but know that my latest horoscope (not that I really believe in them) actually said that I'm outspoken! That's the bad news, but the good news though, is that I've never-ever had a horoscope that said that I was... on second thought I better not say! :1rotfl:

I haven't heard Obama say anything yet worth writing about. When (if) he says something important, I'm sure they'll report it.

See it's comments like that that make me question my moving to TV. It is just mean spirited and I believe uncalled for. Whether you like it or not he was fairly elected by the people of this great country and there are still well over 40% of the country that agrees with him according to latest polls. OK I am going back into my a-political hole now. I really can't stand politics....they have become way to mean spirited and closed minded of late.

I agree with you. I've only met two people in TV in person during my short stay where I know where they stand politically. One is liberal and the other I believe leans slightly to the right of center. In both cases I feel that they're both wonderful people who don't engage in biased activities.

I wanted the guy to succeed. If he does well so does the country. But, what's he done? Spend our money. For what?

Hi ghenley,

Welcome. No need to be concerned. We have many wonderful friends and neighbors in TV and don't know or care their political leanings. As others have said, there are plenty of online news sources. I doubt that many people read The Daily Fun as their primary source of news, as it's main focus is... oh I bet you can guess.

You guessed right! (That is assuming that you guessed that it's main focus is the lifestyle.) :)

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference."

The Daily Sun is what it is. Nobody, IMHO, is forced to read any of the paper. It's like changing the channel on a TV. Turn the page. Read only what interests you. Skip the editorial page. See how easy it is?

And I have never considered the slant of the local rag in choosing a place to live. Never enters into it. But it's a good thing political signs and posters are not permitted in TV.

Don't worry, the water's fine

I was concerned about the conservative bias of the owner, his newspaper, his radio station, and his political donations. But I can tell you, the people here are 99 and 44/100ths pure nice. There are political discussions but I have never heard any hostility once I am willing to let others know my opinions. It seems that silence betokens consent and if the "wing nut" is not aware that he speaks to a moderate he feels no need to be moderate and thoughtful. We even have a large club that is devoted to Civil Discourse!

I totally agree with what PTurner stated. As an non-activist uninvolved Republican, I have never discussed politics with anyone in TV that didn't first let me know of their leaning. Each time it was friendly and nothing to be concerned about. I can also say the same in reverse!

If you're concerns are based on the remarks against the Sun you're reading on this thread, I encourage you (or anybody else) to go to the following link and read one of those articles that the Sun is being criticized for and judge for yourself if there is anything in the article that would justify such criticism against the publication or if it's much adieu about nothing! Enjoy TV and don't let the perceptions of others deter you from doing so! It's a fantastic place!

This thread is being moved to the political forum unless or until the Admin deems it belongs elsewhere. The tone and content of posts have veered off course from any non partisan discussion of the Daily Sun's publishing policies.

I have lived here 7 years and I can tell you that politics does not come up as a matter of course here in TV.

Most people make absolutely no use of their political bent in the normal day to day living whether here or anywhere else. I believe categorizing TV as conservative or liberal or white or black or what ever is a distorted statement.

When is the last time you had to determine what the political affiliation was of anybody before you:
moved out?
Moved in?
Went there on vacation?
went on a cruise?
went to a particular restaurant?
joined a particular club (unless it was a political club)?
Wouldn't it be a shame if you had to consider which church based on political slant?

It just does not happen in day to day living.

Recognize the Daily Sun for what it is....the developer's promotional organ...

So those of you who are considering moving here or anywhere else, don't let the perceptions of the minority sway you.

proud dem

I have found that the folks here that are politically active do it within a venue condusive to that end...there are several clubs here that match pretty much each person's political agenda...Most folks just keep their thoughts to themselves unless it comes up in conversation and if it becomes disagreeable in any way it just simply ends...that is my personal experience and I'm currently dating a member of the Women's republican federation and yes she knows I'm a democrat..We rarely talk politics...I do believe the conservative agenda is alive and well here as that is the leaning by the developer, and this place does play host to just about every republican candidate you can imagine...the governor is here frequently and there have been several nationl level republiccans here in the past,Including George Bush, though I'm sure he had help finding the place (LOL)..c'mon Ritchie, that was a joke...

Hopefully it bothered you as much when liberals denigrated Bush and members of his Admin istration?

As one poster mentioned news comes to us from so many sources. I subscribe to the Wall Street Journal, Orlando Sentinel, Daily Sun and numerous magazines along with e-news letters

I have learned to ignore politics when around the health center and on the golf courses. I go light on them when out to dinner.

Even in this forum I make a good attempt at addressing politics and avoiding personalities
