--------------------------------------- I took this on and found the pictures of Obama's family you wanted. If only I could figure out how to paste them here. All you have to do is to google Obama's grandmother and there they all are. Both Grandmothers, One Grandfather, Father and Mother and his sister. If you can't find it let me know I will try to send the link. |

Re: Do I have this straight?
The favorite mantra of the Dems this season is that McCain is a clone of Bush and to elect him would be "four more years." Yes, there are some similarities in their beliefs (McCaiin is, after all, a conservative)and yes, as the Dems love to point out, "McCain voted with Bush 95% of the time." (All in all, a pretty meaningless stat --- Obama voted with Bush 40% of the time and I doubt if they agree on all that much). But there are a plethora of differences between Bush and McCain. What I consider to be among the greatest failings of Bush was his inability to control runaway spending, especially by not using the veto. McCain, I believe, would be very much a deficit hawk, and would make great use of the veto power, whether the spenders were Dems or GOP.

I'll Tell You One Thing...
If either candidate said that their absolute first priorities would be to reinstate PayGo as it applies to all spending bills and that they would would enact really stringent campaign finance reform, they'd get my vote.
I'm not counting on either one saying that. McCain says the Congress has acted like "pigs at the trough", but he says little about how he's going to fix that problem. From what I can understand, Obama is going to finance a plethora of spending programs with savings from not fighting the war in Iraq and taxing the richest 2-3% of Americans. I'd like to see that budget in detail. Where's Ross Perot when we need him? |
