Why ISIS Is Not, In Fact, Islamic | ThinkProgress

Saying you are Muslim while beheading someone, does not make that person a Muslim. Just a murderer.

If a person puts a dress on and changes his name to Caitlyn, that doesn't make him a woman either.

A person that goes to church may not be a real Christian by some standards.

If one claims to be a Muslim and kills someone, he may be a murderer, but he is also a radical Islamic terrorist. Call it what you want. A scumbag by some standards, a religious freak by others.

So what? You seem to making out that Islam has a fundamentally violent steak because Mohammad ruled by 7th Century standards. That's like saying that Romans now act and think the same as Romans did back in the 7th Century. They do not. Nor do Germans, Englishmen, Russians, etc.

Of course not. I don't have your obvious education, as you said yourself. And I don't have Trump's billions either. And yet, I criticize both equally. Even if I respect Trump's billions more than many years of wasted education and money spent on it, by some. Lighten up, Taltarzac. Just messing with you. I bet I'm not far off though.

You're responding to the wrong post. I did not get into the p..ing contest with you over history. I'm talking about present. If you wish to defend the poor unfortunately misunderstood Muslims, that's up to you. Don't expect us to buy it though. Only an idiot would feel sorry for them, when they teach so much hate and evil. But, some are more naive than others. Sorry if I'm not PC enough for you....no, not really.

I actually got quite a lot of materials for survivors/victims of crimes into libraries of all kinds from 1992 through 2002. That's why I received the 24 nominations to Marquis Who's Who publications. My efforts were worldwide too. It was not about my ego-- as so much is about Donald Trump-- than what is actually in libraries in every state in the US and many other countries.

My 224 613 Project had an impact and continues to have an impact with helping survivors/victims of crimes. I could not have done that work without the connections made at the University of Nevada, Reno; BYU; the College of San Mateo; the University of Denver, and especially the University of Minnesota Law School. I have had other help from the University of California, San Francisco Health Sciences Campus, Brandeis University, the Harvard School of Public Health and many other institutions.

I am in fact saying this .... the post Mecca (622AD) teachings of muhammed are without a doubt violent and warlike . The history makes it obvious and is undeniable by anyone who can read. Plenty of peaceful Muslims etc but the source doctrine is not.

Actually the best way to understand Islam is to recognize its really an imperial political movement masquerading as a religion

You talk like a liberal. You go from one extreme to another. If we can't have a deal with Iran, then it has to be war. No gray area, it's always the extreme.

If a murderer says he is a Muslim, then I will take his word for it that he is a radical terrorist Muslim. Are you going to deny his claim? I did not say all Muslims are radicals, or terrorists or murderers. You said it, not me. Of course, I probably have more experience with Muslims than you do. I didn't get my information from a book, but by experience.

Of course, if Iran gets control of a nuclear weapon we should do anything in our power to stop it.

How many Muslims do you know? I probably hung out with six or so at the University of Denver. They were individuals with different backgrounds, beliefs, etc. All from different Middle Eastern Countries. Some allowed their wives to socialize with us Americans, others did not.

I went to law school at the University of Minnesota from 1986-1989. Congressman Keith Ellison-- who I believe is the first Muslim elected to the US Congress-- was Class of 1990. I was Class of 1989. He was not born a Muslim but converted. Except for being very ambitious, I do not remember much of anything else about him as we hardly cared what religion other students were.

I had a two year or so correspondence with Mahmood Mohammad who was a fellow student at the University of Denver GSLIM. He was a librarian at the University of Mosul. His brother was some kind of general or other in Sadda, Hussein's army. His letters to me became filled with more and more hate towards the west as his time away from the US grew further. The Iran-Iraq War dragged on during that time taking thousands of lives on both sides. There are many fanatics still in both Iraq and Iran. THey may base some of that fanaticism on their reading of the Koran. Warriors have often used religious tracts to justify their greed, warlust, or whatever. The University of Mosul is now controlled by ISIS as far as I know. Mahmood Mohammad probably did whatever he had to do to stay alive if he is even still living. Murderous fanatics rarely act with any kind of reason so who knows what happened in Mosul.

I sometimes would scold Mahmood about his tasteless Kurd jokes. These were the only jokes he seemed to know.

On Findlaw, I had a good friend who was a Muslim in Malaysia. She was a lawyer of some kind there and was a very gentle and kind person often defending others' right to follow whatever religion their hearts were set on as long as these beliefs did not lead to violence.

Hillary or Trump are not the choices yet.

IMHO there are better alternatives on both sides. That might be though the choices we have. Neither one seems particularly honest.

BTW, Hillary Clinton through her time as First Lady and her connection to the Health Care Task Force did send me a very nice letter when I was fighting for better access for survivors/victims of crimes to practical information. This letter was from Carol Rasco who was the William Jefferson Clinton Domestic Affairs Advisor. I would have to look up the date. The Health Care Task Force as far as I know never succeeded in getting their plan off the ground. I have pestered Presidents in the past about the 224 613 Project and whoever becomes President on January 20, 2017 I will try to get them involved in it. I did take a run at Obama/Biden through their ObamaCare but as far as I know did not get anywhere. Maybe, the next administration will be more attune to these ideas.

Looks like it was not as promising as I had thought.

I mean the letter from Carol Rasco who was the Domestic Policy Advisor of the Clinton Administration for some time period.

I sometimes wonder what e-mails of mine will show up in some of these various politician record scrubs.

First off let me say I truly hope it doesn't come down to this. I've thought about this a bit and I don't think I could bring myself to vote for either one. I can say without hesitation I would not vote for Hilary. She's too dishonest (and that's being generous), I don't think she actually likes people. But The Donald hmmm. I think his popularity is in large put due TO his honesty. He just blurts out what ever he thinks and then stands behind it. I will say I wish more or all pol's would do this.

I'll leave with the Bobby Jindal quote - paraphrased about Trump. Donald Trump has never read the Bible. He's not in it.

Not that many mirrors. This is not academic glory but actually making a difference in the lives of survivors/victims of crimes. Maybe some people can see that. Donald Trump has actually touched sometimes on preventing crimes. It is usually in his nasty rhetoric. Information is power though which businessmen certainly understand a great deal.

Yes. A salute to the police and military who are not paid very well for the JOBS they do. My 224 613 Project has been at my and my immediate family's expense with great sacrifice. And it has made a difference if you bother to look at the Photobucket array I have mentioned quite often which has many documents attached. I do think many of the candidates in this Presidential election know about the work I have been doing probably including Donald Trump. I am pretty sure that President Obama and Joe Biden knew about this struggle I had as well during the 2012 University of Denver Presidential debate as well as the VP ones as I 2003 e-mail I had sent many people had been circulating back then. It was published by The Justice a student magazine of Brandeis University. Mitt Romney also probably knew about this Brandeis University e-mail.

I know quite a bit more than many jacks. Practical information for survivors/victims is critical to their ability to journey through the legal system, medical care, support systems, etc. Many organizations supported by efforts to create a dialog between various providers of services.

This thread is about the honesty of Donald Trump. I do like his challenging the establishment about politics as usual. He does seem to want to connect with the people rather than talking at them. We will see how this story progresses.

Again, I value the brave work done by our PAID firemen, police, soldiers, coast guard, etc.

Ok, well while you have had your head in books for years, some of us have lived the real life. Writing about something doesn't make you an expert on it. So far, on each comment you make, whether here or on another forum you spend many lines talking about yourself, instead of the subject. Granted, you do add maybe one line as an after thought regarding the subject of the thread.
I hope you realize that you sound condescending when you say such things like "our PAID firemen, police...." And the fact that you use caps on "PAID" proves how you think lower of them because it is part of their job instead of volunteering. Do you really think that anyone is awed by your written papers and suggestions to politicians? Dude, have you ever heard of the term "overkill?"

There, you have been successful in diverting attention from the thread to YOU.

BIG HUGE difference in the two.

First, I have been saying all along...Trump represents a total disaster for the Republican Party, but to even mention him in the same sentence is diluted thinking AT BEST.

While Trump is now "stretching the truth" to get attention, Ms Clinton has a record that actually defies the imagination.

Beginning back in Arkansas, she has been known, and factually reported on, as a nasty liar who is vindictive and mean.

I have been saying all along that Trump is screwing things up, but I might also add, that the only hope Trump will have should he ever get the nod is to run against Ms Clinton. Her track record...Trump has nine...is so poor, so riddled with controversy and bad judgement...and I have not even touched on he lying and cheating....that he would have open season in her.

Trump is bad.....Clinton escalates lying to anew threshold. There have been BOOKS written on her deceit....BOOKS, not truth-o-meters.

Dear Guest: Is it beyond the realm of possibilities given his past and close relationship with the Clintons and the fact that Trump spends all his time on attacks against any GOP candidate that he is not running interference for Hillary? Have you yet heard him say anything against Hillary? This is a big time take no prisoners businessman that could incur riches and power beyond his dreams if she is elected.

He is bluffing/blustering his way on the campaign trail with not one iota of intelligent policy planning.

The suggestion is ridiculous, right? Well that's what makes it believable that and the fact that Clinton and Trump both swim in the same cesspool.

You don't have much choice. Every one of them is in someone's pocket. Just have to figure out which one closest resembles what you are looking for. America is not going to get perfect. There was only one perfect person that ever existed in the world. If you want a nice person, then you had better hang out in church. You're not going to get nice in D.C. And I don't want "nice." I want ruthless and shrewd right now. Someone that will tell the poor to get off their behinds and contribute to society instead of being leaches. No one criticized Biden for using the "F" word. They laughed. We need a little less PC and substitute manners instead.

Dear Guest: Yea my Dad would say politicians are all crooks and you just have to figure out which one is going to leave a little on the bone for you

I loved my Dad but I thought to myself shouldn't Americans aspire to something greater when electing its leader. I saw it in Ronald Reagan and I saw it in Mitt Romney where both men could conduct politics while maintaining their self. Its defined as unselfishness.
