There is so much childishness on this thread that it's taking all the fun out of commenting. Insults and off topic barbs seem to be the norm here. Hard to find a good conversation lately.

Thanks for clearing up my confusion. A real public service. |
Notice when dispicable comments are posted by conservatives that they are just ignored and the liberals are called childish. When the shoe is on the other foot, the comments are "HATEFUL" and all liberals are "HATEFILLED".
Obviously, Kathy and Al got these comments regarding Barney Frank from their Tea Party meetings. |

Many of us grew up in a time where the classic definition of "queer" meant "odd".....nothing more, nothing less. I can remember hearing in the late 50's and 60's, "the queerest thing happened today...." and I can remember the word "queer" being in my primary school reading books, meaning "odd". Kathy and Al called Frank the equivalent of "oddball", and that, he IS! From what I've seen on Barney Frank on t.v., I don't even think HE would get all bent out of shape if you called him a "queer-ball". If there is one thing he is, it is "open" about his oddballness. And by the way, "Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter, Mary, or Newt Gingrich's lesbian sister" have not been in elected office for 32 years, at least CLOSE to the bilking of the MA and American taxpayer and rightful accountability to us. |

I did not post the section in red and underlined. I only posted that the language was offensive and the posters should be ashamed of themselves. I sincerely doubt if Kathy and Al meant to just call Mr. Frank an oddball. It was a homophobic remark. If Kathy and Al would get on line and say they meant it only as an oddball, I would retract that statement. |

For a straight person to call a homosexual a "queer" is just as repugnant as a white person calling a black person the "N" word.
Haven't you studied that at your tea party meetings? |

Barney has lived a charmed life, you must admit. I, among many, have to wonder if a Republican could have skated with no repercussions when it was shown an escort service was being run out of his basement which he swore he knew nothing about? |
It's not what you say - it's how you say it.
After all, remember there used to be a popular show called "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy". |

now that the subject of gays is out in the open, so to speak, it is offensive to talk about it?
