Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about my lifestyle, I funded my lifestyle 100% by working my whole life and saving my money. Nobody funds it for me.

Very good! I assume you do collect a Social Security check every month. Medicare benefits, too? Does the spouse collect a Social Security benefit even if she did not work?

Anyhow, it is great to be retired and funded, isn't it, and living in this great place! Congrats to all of us! Thanks to God, too.

There is a good reason that ordinary people don't complain about the fair tax. The fair tax is never going to happen. No president or any Congress would be even stupid enough to try to bring it up as a serious way to fix the tax situation. Why complain about something that will never happen?

When they talk about simplifying the tax code, the tax code is simple enough for 75+% of individuals in this country. Most of the code is for corporations, and the rich trying to avoid paying taxes.

The 47% of the people in this country don't pay taxes. That statement was misleading. Itemized deductions (property taxes, state income taxes, mortgage interest) deductions for dependents, credit for children under a certain age, and earned income credit aren't that complicated to compute. These deduction throw many people into the 47%. Also, many of the 47% are people earning peanuts. A flat tax, or a national tax is going to increase taxes for all these people. Who in the right mind would call that fair? Rich people that would like to see this happen aren't in their right mind.

How about a flat tax for people making over 1 million dollars per year? Gross income includes money earned outside the US. The tax rate can be 20% with no deductions, and nothing carried forward from a previous year. That will shut them up in one big hurry.

You are absolutely full of BS by suggesting that someone made a bad career choice by not choosing one that had a pension. Just who the hell do you think you are saying that? You are really a jerk and can go to hell.

First, your political affiliations have ZERO to do with this.

Second, you made poor choices in your career by not choosing one that would give you a pension.

Third, hiring a tax preparer is ridiculous. There is Turbo Tax which does everything you want or you can get free tax preparation in The Villages by former accountants.

Fourth, what makes you think that IRS employees have lavish lifestyles? Their average salary for an IRS professional is around $105,000 per year and that is far from lavish.

Fifth, they do not make their own laws nor does the tax money go into their pockets anymore than it goes into yours through your Social Security benefit and Medicare benefits.

How can these people who mock others and take nothing seriously and use this forum as a fun game while others actually try to share views be removed from here ?

Is there a vehicle or are they protected by the GUEST name rule ?

What is wrong with you people?

It sounds to me as though the poster who opined about a career choice was entirely within his/her rights. The reply to it by calling the person a jerk and told him to go to hell was inappropriate and that person showed his true character.

Opinions are welcome on this forum. Coarse remarks of calling someone a jerk and telling them to go to hell are not welcome.

In my opinion, what you refer to as "opining" was actually demeaning and lecturing and I do not think the response was out of line at all. This is for opinions and some think they can LECTURE and just shut it down, hence the BOOM thing and the comments that tell you that its over.

Arrogance on a forum is easy to see and pickup on and in my opinion, telling someone or lecturing them about what choices they may or many not have made is out of order.

Read that post again...IT WAS A LECTURE AND TALKING DOWN

They may not be welcomed, but they are often deserved.:D

I am confused by the direction this thread has taken. I am new to this board. Have people been kicked off it, because of the political views as was suggested? Am I going to be put on a hit list?

There are plenty of small companies that can't offer a retirement plan. There is nothing wrong with these companies. They might offer their employees profit sharing plan, and this additional money can be put into a 401(k) plan. They might overpay their employees, and some of the higher pay could go a 401(K). The job couldn't have been that bad, because he stayed in for years. Job security is more important to some people than a retirement plan.

I have backed off posting on here because of the antics, however, your post deserves an answer, albeit my opinion.

I have no idea if anyone was thrown off the board based on actions on this political forum. We had a forum in the past, which near the end became plagued with the same kind of posts. THAT forum was shut down because this board was unable to handle the complaints they were getting from posters about personal attacks.

Now, some of them were legitimate, but so many were a crush of complaints solicited and managed by a group who just wanted to shut down voices. They would then co ordinate a rush of complaints to the admin about anyone they wanted to shut up BUT NOT for anything legit. ALSO, many posters could not leave their animosity on the board and were using the private message format.

There were folks thrown off their. Most of them are back here with different names unfortunately but this new forum with the use of GUEST gives a hiding place for these people. The GUEST idea was a compromise, in my opinion by the admin. People wanted to discuss current events but it became so personal that most of the threads just got shut down. Then a number of posters solicited the management to open up a place..political...to discuss current events. The answer was this and the GUEST moniker was set up so that the private message could not be used as in the past. It, however, does not allow us to identify who the poster is. To my knowledge nobody has been terminated from here.

Your point in your post is valid but there are certain posters one in particular, who overtime someone mentions retirement will jump up and throw in their face whatever their decision was in life...whether they collect social security or not.

I would welcome taking away the cloak of GUEST so that we can ignore and especially KNOW who these people are for sure. I say for sure, because any of the long time posters are pretty much well aware of who these folks are and they simply want to irritate and have no desire to engage in conversation and you will notice they will simply shut down thread either with stupid immature posts or proclaim it done because they have all the answers.

A lot of words, and I am sorry

Don't even pretend to lecture me or defend the jerk who made the BS comments - that is a true measure of your lack of character. I really couldn't care less what your opinion.

Well, it appears that President Obama has solved all the problems once again for us. The IRS and other scandals are the fault of......drum roll....CONGREESS.

"President Obama defended the IRS Tuesday in an interview with “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart, saying the tea party targeting scandal was actually Congress’s fault for passing “a crummy law” and that the real problem is the agency doesn’t have enough money.

Mr. Obama, who has overseen a series of scandals at the IRS, the Veterans Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and now the Office of Personnel Management, was asked why government didn’t seem to be working on his watch."

"But the president said he’s not to blame, using the IRS as an example of how what went wrong wasn’t his fault, and questioning whether tea party groups were ever targeted.

The IRS’s internal auditor concluded that the agency did, in fact, target conservative and tea party groups for intrusive scrutiny, and Mr. Obama’s own Justice Department is still conducting a criminal investigation into the targeting."

Well, Richard Nixon said "he was not a crook"......Bill Clinton parsed over the definition of having sex.....This President just claims infallibility !!

It's amazing to watch Obama ... I have to give him credit. He is absolutely THE BEST and most persuasive political liar I have ever seen. Also the most amoral.

Thank you for answering my question about people getting kicked off the board. There is another alternative about identifying yourself as the posted.

I was on a football talk site in mid 90's for about 7 years. It was the AFC East, when the division was competitive. The site allowed you to use any name you wanted. You entered that name at the start of every post. It was an honor system. There was about 50 regular posters. We all used the same name in posting. So, everybody knew, who you were talking to. Nobody was cheating by using another name. The reason I know that no one cheated was nobody ever called anyone a name. Nor, were there any references to their intelligence.

The teams and their players were fair game. Degrading your team's opponent was a way of life. The insults were directed to the players action on the field, and not to anything off the field.

Avid fans for competing football teams had more respect for each other than seniors in Florida's friendliest home town in 2015 for followers of different parties. We have come a long way baby, and not the right direction.

Ok, as far as I know there are only two groups that don't get SS. Railroad workers and CRS fed gov. Employees. Cause they have there own retirement and don't pay into SS. Ther benifit more than SS would pay. Even if you haven't worked day in your life you will get minimum SS. I find it strange (unless they are not citizen) why some say they don't receive annuity? Taxes will NEVER go down or be fair! It's the American way!
