It would behoove all voters to demand that the politicians pundits and journalist forgo the games of one upmanship and dirty politics and focus on a candidates bona fides...why is this candidate qualified to be president ?

While games may help a party's candidate it does not yield us the best candidate and hence we all suffer

Issue of integrity truthfulness honesty, etc are fair game

Out right lying such as the Harry Reid lie concerning Romney's tax situation should be meant with rebuke and shame. Zero tolerance and acceptance should be made clear from voters.

all of the above if not corrected will bring us down to a 3rd rate country

Thre is plenty of criticism and blame to go around. We need to refocus our effort and energies on picking the best fairly and objectively

It is not an insult. I really do pity you because you clearly have no clue about her and you are happy to form your opinions, and try to sway others, by referring to a left wing rag. In the future, try providing balanced references and then I won't pity you.

You were ok, until you added your editorial at the end to elicit a response, of which you are sure of what you will get. It's a "pity" you couldn't respond without throwing an insult.

Can a CEO Who Laid Off Thousands, Botched a Merger, and Left With $21 Million Become President? | Mother Jones

In your accolades for Ms Fioriana, you fail to mention that as CEO of HP she laid off thousands, botched a merger, and left with 21 million after being fired. Her only accomplishment since that time seems to be her losing senate race to Senator Barbara Boxer in California by 10 percentage points.

By virtue of what you posted, and intended as criticism of CF, it's clear you have no real understanding of how the economy works, or how a business grows ... or contracts. You are only looking at one side of the equation. You are ignoring, or not even seeing more likely, how the company grew and how the entire tech industry went through tough times. Performance in that environment is relative, as is survival for that matter. I remember at one point HP was kind of a joke in the high tech world but CF turned that around. Your view of this is not unique, as many uniformed people quickly leap to similar conclusions and that is how, and why, the Democrats can readily demagogue it.

Do you envy her for making $21M? Just wondering given that aspect of your comment.

Bottom line: this woman has her act together. She's actualy a poster child for feminist success. Anyone who can rise from Secretary to CEO has, beyond any doubt, leadership and management ability. That is MUCH more that the majority of the Republican field can claim. You can draw your own conclusions about her ability stacks up with the people running with D's behind their names.

I would say that looking at almost any major corporation over the last 20 years one could say with accuracy that they laid off thousands of people, botched a merger or aquisition and left with a lot more than $21 million.

Now go back and tally up the good that was done by those same CEO's.....by the way good equates to increasing share holder value and profitability of the company.

Also do not believe what one reads in the public record for answers to why a person ever leaves a corporate entity....it is NEVER EVER a reflection of what trull happened or why.

I would never agree that the United States should be run like a corporation, but I took your criteria as apparently you think increased shareholder value and corporate profits can tell us whether Carly is Presidential material. So

President Fiorina? How Carly did at HP | America's Markets

Quote:

The stock under Fiorina was a disaster — falling 65% from July 19, 1999, to Feb. 8, 2005. It was a tough time for the stock market, too, as the Standard & Poor’s 500 dropped 15% during the same time. But HP’s stock even underperformed the S&P 500 Information Technology Sector index
and how about those corporate profits?

Quote:

The company’s net income under Fiorina didn’t budge during her tenure and even dropped into the red in 2002. HP’s net income was flat during the period, even while reported net income of the S&P 500 rose 70%.
Nice job running HP Carly. Still think based on her CEO work she should be the GOP nominee? I'm sure Mrs. Clinton hopes Carly is the last clown standing.

Thank you for your wise post. If we could only get the people to spend half as much time objectively researching the candidates and issues as they spend watching American Idol, Survivor, or the Super Bowl. Too many people are too lazy to take their voting responsibility seriously. Political ads work for the same reason that celebrity endorsements of consumer items work: people are too lazy to do their own due diligence.

I assume you mean balanced references, like Fox News.

You really do need some new talking points. These are getting quite stale.

Guest 05-05-2015 12:26 PM

The only talking point here is don't come onto a public forum bad mouthing someone who you clearly know nothing about with references from a left wing rag. Great minds talk about issues and ideas, small minds criticize those who have actually taken risks and accomplished something in their lives.

Not sure what you accomplished in life, but I can tell you, you are clueless.

Don't make assumptions about posters you know nothing about. In other words, practice what you preach.

Does calling people you have never met a "clown" make you feel better? You are dragging around a lot of hate. Anyone who gets into a position to run for president is clearly an accomplished individual, almost certainly a much more accomplished person than those who label them "clowns".

I formed my opinions about you based on your responses and I am pretty sure I am spot on. You have a nice day now.

RNC, networks mull criteria for inclusion in GOP debates - POLITICO.com

Carly Fiorina is going to have to get her poll numbers way up and raise a lot of money from a lot of people in order to be included in the debates.

With 17 potential GOP candidates, only the ones at the top of the polls with the most money will make the cut, and not making it into a debate would be a death knell for a candidate, according to this article. And BTW, the first debate is only three months away.

Guest 05-05-2015 02:38 PM

Agreed, that is the way things work now in this country; without substantial funding it is hard to get your poll numbers up and without your poll numbers up it is hard to get money. Hell of a system we have.

It is obvious by the tone and tenor of some of the posts they are not from corporate America. And if they were or are they were obviously not high enough up in the pyramid to understand or know how things sometimes work.

What if.....just what if her job was to get the company positioned to be able to "lay off thousands" (very unpopular), to close down plants (very expensive) clean up the balance sheet by dumping select assets and do the very best that could be expected while writing off or writing down these assets (all of which could be a huge hit to earnings).

She gets the job done. The current results do not look very good at all as a result of actions taken (expected). The company is now positioned to be leaner in physical as well as monetary assets, well positioned for improved financial results in the near term (?). She agrees to take the public beating that goes with the poor results. She gets $21 million to go on her merry way.

Now the above could well be a hypothesis. It could also be something akin to what really happened.

When it comes to what gets said and done at the CEO level and the board of directors level and what gets published for public consumption do not have to match. It just has to be legal or not illegal.

Just musing out loud!

The woman is more capable than Obama as a elected POTUS. She is more capable than he is today. She makes Clinton look and sound like a political dinosaur.

If Obama were measured for results.....promises made VS promised kept as they do in the corporate world, he would not have made it through a second year.....let alone 6!!!!
