Only those with a certifiable mental illness (ie liberalism) would be aghast about a President Rubio defending us, and making it clear to our enemies they will pay a price.

Who is going to pay for all this bravado? He said he would increase defense spending, increase social spending, and cut taxes. Another thing that might merit your attention before you start shooting is Russia, China, and Iran will be able to shoot back a hell of a lot more than Iraq or Afganistan did. Be very careful what you ask for.

I respectfully suggest you study up on the notion of peach through strength. Historically, weakness invites war whereas strength tends to prevents it.

I know it sounds counterintuitive but it's just the way the world has worked since antiquity. Reagan understood it, and that's why we won the Cold War ... in spite of all the fear mongers, nuclear freezniks and other lefties who protested his policies. I think Rubio understands this notion, and that's how I took his comment.

Seems to most of us that he's spot on...but yeah...we'll wait till something happens to someone you care about....I'm certain you'll feel the same way then...

You seem to have a degree of cyniscm in your response. I'm curious, have you ever served?

Things can happen, and people can be shot at or killed in war. I remember being shot at in combat multiple times. Yes, I was scared but no, I did not all of a sudden change my philosophy about what's best for our Country and keeping it safe.

Sometimes you may have to pay a price. The longer you wait, and the more you put it off however, the price becomes much bigger.

You were in combat and were shot at multiple times. I assume that was Vietnam. I was in the National Guard then and my job was to guard the Iowa border in the event that the VC crossed into Iowa after they captured Nebraska.

Cynical indeed ... probably best for everyone that you stayed in the rear echelon. I don't think I'd want you covering my back or that of my buddies.

Obama had very little to do with it ... I replied to you in an earlier post when you made a similar (uninformed and naive) comment

Dear Guest: While it is being denied by the White House, surprise a news story is developing wherein a reporter for the New York Times verifies another version of the bin Laden find. it appears bin Laden was under constant guard by the Pakistan's intelligence for 6 years and that an intelligence officer was paid by the CIA the sum of $25 million for bin Laden's location.

I had wondered why we did not capture bin Laden rater than kill him because he was a most valuable source of information? While I am not a conspiracy theorist just because Washington claims he was shot and buried at sea doesn't mean it happened???????I do know that the Freedom of Information Act is becoming a joke and that both sides of the aisle are failing we the people

Will this story survive???

This story is complete BS and the product of Seymour Hersh's fevered imagination, similar to the 911 conspiracy theories about how the CIA supposedly blew up the WTC. Some people (not saying you) are best advised to get a grip ...

Have you read this article -

If nothing else, it certainly raises a lot of questions. Not sure what you mean by "get a grip" - does that mean we should just believe everything we are told and not question anything? Not sure where you are coming from, after all, this is not Fox News. This is coming from the NY Times, HuffPo, and apparently NBC has also reported on this.

I don't think that you have to worry about Liberals serving in the military in any large numbers. I think the only time that I've witness them putting their lives on the line is when they push their way to the front of the line at Dunkin' Donuts.

Skepticism is always good ... paranoia not so much. The blurb at the end of the article about "more openness" is humorous in connection with intelligence operations. (oxymoronic). I don't doubt that someone got the $25M reward by the way. But I laugh when I see people (not you) pump their chests and say Obama killed Osama. Obama was remote from the real action, and it was set into play LONG before he showed up. But, he jumped in to quickly take credit when we finally got him. That's consistent however with Obama's lack of character.

My disdain is especially aimed at the people who claim CIA or the USG in general secretly blew up the World Trade Center on 911. I was in DC at the time. When I see that type comment ...makes me shake my head at what some will believe. That speculation is sheer lunacy with a capital L.

We would get butted out of line by the retired cops getting their daily "fat pills".

Ah, sort of like Junior Bush guarding the bars of Texas during the Vietnam years.

And what branch of the military did you serve in?

Thanks for your thoughtful and intelligent response......sure beats a lot of the other posting that goes on here.
