Default Can You Connect a Laptop to Directv Genie & How

Can you connect a laptop to the Directv Genie? If so, is it possible to use the laptop to record shows to DVD? And if so, what type of cable to connect the two devices?

No, you can't remove copy protected material from a digital video recorder.

Was told by Directv that for GenieGO to work both devices have to be connected to the internet, which is not the case. So that option was ruled out. Thanks anyway.

If you can't connect a laptop to the Directv Genie, then you probably can't connect a stand alone DVD recorder either? It just seems like you should be able to play back a show and record it by some means. Having already paid Directv for the programming, I would think you should be able to record it to DVD. I can see movies not being available to record. But Dr. Oz or Survivor...would that be a crime of the century?
