Default I kinda miss David Maus

Since we came back from Long Island I've noticed that David Maus' car dealership ads are different. Gone are the ads featuring Dave himself with his stiff delivery and the signature two finger-gum closing ("whatever it takes". Yay. Now the ads are very short featuring a woman who is almost as stiff as The man himself.
For those with a longer memory --the Bob Dance with his granddaughter (who looked like she was being held captive) saying "I wanna see ya in a Kia"
The Vales/Every Kiss begins with a "K" and "He went to Jared's" grate on my nerves-- but the inundation is mostly seasonal.

Rock on "For the people" Morgan and Dan "It would be my honor" Newlin

Now I know I'm in Central Florida

Hilarious take on the commercials here. We are year rounders and ergo numb to them. But despite the annoying commercials here, in upstate NY they suffer with the car dealer Billy Fucillo and all of his commercials which end with him (and his paid puppets) saying their deals are......HUGE ! With triple emphasis on the word huge. I am sure televisions have been smashed by these commercials but he sells cars by the thousands. Kinda like Geiko....the more stupid and annoying the better.

For those that did not see the recent news... (and reported that David got $20million...yep Whatever it takes...)
-----------

The David Maus family of auto dealerships has been sold to Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, officials said Thursday.

Buffett's mammoth multinational corporation has agreed to buy the Van Tuyl Group, the fifth-largest largest auto-dealership group in the country, according to a joint news release. The private Van Tuyl Group owns the Maus dealerships.

The new company will be known as Berkshire Hathaway Automotive, with headquarters in Dallas.

It was unclear Thursday whether the David Maus name would change. Terms of the deal were not revealed.

An analyst for S&P Capital IQ in New York said Berkshire Hathaway's historical strategy is to acquire companies that have strong finances and management and make few changes.

"For all intents and purposes, it will probably be business as usual," Cathy Seifert said.

This is Berkshire Hathaway's first foray into buying auto dealerships outright, Seifert said.

In Central Florida, the David Maus group includes four Toyota-Scion, Chevrolet and Volkswagen dealerships in Orlando and Sanford. In South Florida, Toyota and Scion of Deerfield Beach and Delray Honda are included in the sale.

The dealerships are known for commercials featuring Maus pointing at the camera with two index figures and saying, "Whatever it takes." He could not be reached for comment.

Local dealerships referred questions to Van Tuyl's corporate headquarters. Officials there did not respond to requests for comment.

The sale, contingent upon regulatory approval and consent of the auto manufacturers, is expected to go through in the first quarter of next year.

Van Tuyl Group has more than $8 billion in revenue and 78 independently operated dealerships with more than 100 franchises in Florida, Georgia and eight other states.

Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries include GEICO auto insurance, Fruit of the Loom, Heinz, Dairy Queen and See's Candies. The company in the past couple of years has bought dozens of small U.S. newspapers.

Thanks God he's not on any more. I couldn't take anymore of his "whatever it takes" nonsense.

David will be back in Florida in a very few years.

He has teamed up with Warner Peacock in South Carolina.

They will first expand into most all of South Carolina.
Then will begin buying additional dealerships in Georgia and Florida.

" First Team Automotive " has BIG plans.

Lets see, there IS opportunity to succeed in the good old USA.

An 18 year old kid from Steubenville Ohio came down to Orlando, alone.

Takes a job as salesman at a Golf Club Shop on International Drive.

40 months later is running the Golf Shop.

A customer at the golf shop liked David's work ethic, personality and integrity
enough to offer David a job at a Toyota Dealership.

10 years later David had done so well as Salesman at the Toyota dealer
that he has saved enough $$ to buy his First Auto Dealership.

12 years after that has a $20 MILLION $ Equity in the Dealerships.

SO...lets see 12 years in Business David walks away with $ 20 Million.

During those years David lived a comfortable life. Has a wonderful family.
Started the David Maus Foundation and also gave
a few million from his personal accounts to many charities.

BRAVO !!.... and many Thanks to You, David...

May God Bless You and Yours, Abundantly.

David Maus has done spectacularly well and deserves to have his hard work pay off.
But I don't miss his ads and especially the way he pronounces Toyota as Tota. -

I didn't know anything about David Maus and now that I do, I agree. It is a wonderful success story.

But I also agree about the pronunciation of Toyota. It seems to be common to all Toyota adds in this area.

And I just hate that "Whatever it takes" tagline. It gives me the impression that he believes that he has complete control over people.

Those fortunate enough to be in The Toyota Inner Circle
pronounce the name as "Toda".

Akio Toyoda, who is the CEO of Toyota, says his name like "Toda".

Akio is part of the Toyoda family that started the Toyota automobile company.

Out of RESPECT to the Toyoda family, the "Inner Circle" of Dealers
uses "Toda" as the way to say Toyota.

David became part of the Inner Circle when he made his very first
dealership a Success.

He purchased when it was rated # 156 in the USA.

Within ONE year his Toyota Dealership was # 15 in the USA.
