Default In-Patient Rehab Facility

My Dad is in the hospital with Pneumonia and will need to go to an In-patient rehab facility after discharge, in order to hopefully regain strength. I am hoping some of you will have some good suggestions.

Thanks

DONT go to Villages rehab on 466, terrible place. Some of the nurses are downright nasty, bad attitudes, no one washes their hands, bathrooms filthy,
food is NOT a balanced meal (fried chicken nuggets, fries and canned fruit) My friend waited over 2 hours for pain meds. Basicly patients are ignored. The rehab techs are wonderful, the only good thing about this place!!!!! Actually they need to be inspected, going to find out who to call.

My wife spent a month at Brookdale last year. No complaints, staff very helpful and attentive, food was at least edible, good PT dept.

Unlike the poster Summerhill,my wife received excellent care at 466 Rehab from nurses,to custodial care, rehab people and cooks-you can order ala carte if you don't like that day's menu-the place was clean, the nurses never surly, the NA were very kind and helpful and recreation activities were terrific-having Petrina, perform, ice cream socials,bingo,movies,etc-administration and social workers very good-good security too

I recently spent two and a half weeks at Freedom Point for in house rehab after extensive neck surgery. I cannot say enough good about the experience. The staff, from the therapists, nurses, CNA staff to the food service personnel were, in my opinion, excellent. The only negative that I encountered was that when all my therapists concurred that I was fit to leave I ran into a roadblock with the administrative layer. They wanted to keep me there several days longer. I just told them that if they did not have a valid medical reason for me to stay I wanted to be released. I went home the next day.

We visited several people who were in The Club. Everyone seemed satisfied.

There is an attempt to keep you as long as Medicare will pay at all of the places our friends were in.

I am sorry your dad is sick.

Thanks Grace, and also thanks for the discharge info. He is improving, but still is not at the point to be able to live by himself. Needless to say, he is very impatient with it all!

My wife has been in The Club for 11 days, and we are very satisfied with the care she has received.

True, and it is also true that they will kick you out the minute your Medicare allowance is used up unless it is for a different medical reason that requires the patient to stay there longer.
