Default PUP MA 2014 plan is way better than United healthcare

The 2014 plan for PUP gives you $100 per month rebate. uHC gives you nothing.PUP has silver sneakers, UHC does not. PUP gives you over the counter drugs, UHC does not. PUP has a 0 copayment for urgent care, UHC has a $30 or $40 copay for urgent care. PUP has a 0 copayment for tier 1&2 drugs, UHC does not. The only thing UHC has going for it is the exclusive they worked out with the villages health system. Is it worth $1200 a year to go to their doctors? In my case I save a minimum of $1600 a year with PUP with the rebate and the silver sneakers gym membership at Anytime Fitness. To me, this is a no brainer. Why take an inferior plan just to use the villages health system? There are many good doctors available in this area. Both plans are 0 premium.

There are a lot of posts about PUP and even though you are "appearing" to be new here.......I'm pretty sure you've seen them all........do NOT assume that PUP will really be available for 2014.

The best plan pays when you need it the most. Rebates should not even be considered when choosing a plan

That is because he can not sell you PUP, therefore he can not make a commission on the sale. PUP is available in both counties with offices in Orlando, Ocala, & Tampa. They do not use independent agents, you must sign up on their web site or by phone.

My husband received his confirmation letter Saturday that Medicare accepted his enrollment into PUP for 2014 and we live in Sumter county. The rebate is $90/month not a $100. It is a good plan for some - not for all. If the plan works for you and you choose not to save the $90/month that's your choice. I prefer the money in my pocket.

Physicians United Plan, (PUP).

I was informed by the UHC rep that PUP was bought out by UHC. I have heard, that some people were able to keep their PUP plan.

PUP does sound like a good plan but I wonder if it is still available to all, who want to sign up for it, or are they making exceptions for some people who have it, and want to remain on it?

I hope that someone will enlighen us on this plan.

I think k you are referring to PCP which was bought out by UHC. It is still available in other parts of Fla.

Everyone's needs may vary. It is important to review ALL of your requirements, including prescription drugs, in order to make an educated decision. We go to Villages Health and have UHC. We've always had it and been very satisfied with it. I thought we might be able to drop back to the 2014 UHC advantage plan but our cardiologists will not accept it so it is off the table for us. When you are healthy you can get by with using plans that may not be adequate when you have health issues!

Not available to Insurance Agents for commission. Available to people who want a Medicare Advantage plan over the phone.
