Another super place "outside the bubble" is Ramshackle Cafe on 441 in Leesburg (right hand side, just before the split in the highway). Very unassuming exterior and parking is tight (pull into the hotel parking lot and come around the back for more options), but it's worth it. Wonderful taco salad and chimichangas, fabulous wings (with about a dozen options for glaze). Great food at reasonable prices and huge servings.

We like Sonnys and if the day there does not go well, call the manager after you leave and they will make an adjustment for the next visit, they put your name in a notebook for the next time, surprise.
Too Jays really went downhill for sure, really sad.
The two Chinese Buffets are really good and reasonable. One is Evergreen Pinellas Plaza, One is Southern Trace plaza, awesome!!!
Perkins has a senior 5 dollar breakfast, the ham and egger is awesome, biscuits available. The Chicken fry steak and baked potato is great if you each have that, we take part of it home, the baked potato is great, sliced and fried for breakfast in some olive oil.
The Longhorn restaurant, NY steak we had was awesome also.

Last time at Honest Johns was not good, will try again, maybe an off day or a sub chef????

Food at Cane Garden consistently good. Also Mallory, tho it seems to be spotty lately. Love Bonefish, Carrabbas and Outback.

If you're willing to leave TV for great food, we found an English themed restaurant in Mt. Dora called The Windsor Rose Tearoom. It's run by Marsha and Paul Goodale.
Check their website Windsor Rose Tea Room and Restaurant | A relaxing escape to British tradition in beautiful downtown Mount Dora, Florida to check their menu.

Evergreen was shut down by the health department recently for an infestation of insects/vermin.

At Palmer Legends we had the petite filet with scallop and shrimp and the special twin lobster tails. All were cooked perfectly.

Where else should we try?
Lighthouse is really good & prices are pretty good, but Palmer is a little rich for me. As far as Country Clubs, I like Nancy Lopez, again don't eat there all the time a little rich for my blood. We eat at least one meal out everyday. Actually for a quick lunch Panera is the most reasonable!

We really like Sweet Tomato on 441. It's a soup and salad buffet with lots to choose from. The soups are homemade and delicious and there is homemade bread to accompany the meal. We also love Nancy Lopez and the oven baked pizza at Mallory Square.

Here are our favorites for great food at reasonable prices: Giovanni's for (authentic) Italian; Glenview Country Club for the best steaks (always!); Oakwood for ribs; McCall's Tavern for fried chicken (join their free beer club for free beer on the 16th and 26th of each month and free meal on your birthday); Bonefish for seafood; Ruby Tuesdays for a great meal anytime (look for coupons in the paper, mail, and online); Johnny Rockets for sundaes and milk shakes; Ambrosia for ice cream cones ($2.75). Hope this helps. :-) Enjoy!

It is a short drive to Ocala, but we found several restaurants worth making the trip for. Harry's New (Orleans type food), Ivy House (great ambiance)and Yummy House (Chinese) were all excellent.
