Entry Gates
Anyone know why many of the entry gates have been left in the up position? There are stop signs in place but few cars actually come to a stop. It makes crossing in a golf cart a little more interesting.

Do people really think before they ask a question.
The gates are probably up because there is a mechanical problem... Stop signs are for the cars and people should be stopping. As far as golf carts are concerned. you might want to wait till all cars pass before you exit onto the streets. Cars have the right os way... |

I have been curious also. It seems to be at most of the gates I have come to in the last week. It does make it difficult as you cannot trust a car to stop at the stop sign. We have been wondering this and several of our friends wonder also. Good question.

The gates are probably up because there is a mechanical problem.. I disagree. At some of the gates, the gate attendant leaves them open because they do not get up and greet people. In some instances the visitor gate is left open but the resident has to stop and use their card. No mechanical problem.

I don't know the answer, but I certainly noticed it too. It makes it very dangerous for golf carts. In the afternoons and mornings some of the gate attendants leave the gates raised and it is very, very dangerous in a cart trying to get across two lanes of high speed traffic. It is terrifying to be sitting there in a golf cart and some dear soul in a car decides to be kind and stop to let you across. What they don't realize is that not only are they in danger of being rear ended, but there are two lanes of traffic and the wise cart driver shouldn't cross and risk being hit by the other vehicles coming through. Go slowly, drive defensively and look three times. |

By George BK, I think you've got it. The line to St. Timothy's parking lot extended clear down Morse on Easter. A lot of us villagers went to church on Easter to all of our churches. I suspect that may have been the reason that the gates were up. (Just like in Heaven.)

I'm amazed it took this long for a thread to be started regarding the gates in the up position. It seems to be isolated between Odell circles (I may be wrong).
I asked a gate attendant why and his answer was that there is a software problem. I'm guessing the problem is the push buttons not working correctly, making it difficult to get through without a card. If this is, in fact, the case I can't understand why it is taking so long to repair the software |

We asked our friendly gate attendant here in Hadley and he said it is a computer issue. They were moving the computers around (I'm guessing it had to do with moving from Wedgewood to the new offices in LSL) and the computers are not working correctly and can't read our entry cards. They are unsure how long it is going to be until it is fixed.
