Default Hats off to the Event Staff

We went early to the tree lighting ceremony last night and observed the event staff actively stop folks from saving rows of chairs and moving folks that set up to close to the dance floor area on in areas designated for pathways to the bleachers. Several tried and even some argued with the staff, but they held firm. Thank you whoever you are that made that decision. I hope they continue that practice on all three squares.

Now there is some great news. Wow.

There is hope for good things in the future.

I would hate to be anyone who stood up to some of those folks. NOT the Event Staff, the perps.

Being that the "staff" are folks just like us, residents, it is just stupid that anyone would challenge what they were trying to do.

Hats off as well to the powers that be who made the decision to have the Event Staff take this step.

I have to say the entertainment last night was fantastic! We attended the LSL tree lighting also but really enjoyed the Brownwood festivities. It was awesome to see all the lit candles in the elevated seating cause it really added to the ambience. Great job all around!

Maybe some of the ones saving seats and then arguing with the staff are not Villages residents. The squares are open to all. Previous threads on this subject have basically assumed that this was a resident practice.

Some of you will remember that this is exactly why Katie Belle's went private. There were so many coming in from the surrounding areas that the residents could not get in. At that time, there was one square and Katie Belle's for entertainment (other than one movie house). As I remember it, Church on the Square had services on Sunday and something else on occasion. There were fewer country clubs, as well.

As the saying goes, "Build it and they will come" (or something along those lines).

I saw this too! Could not believe my eyes. I never have understood why people think it's ok to save seats

Just curious - how did the size of the 2 crowds compare?
