Default Too large and too fast.

As I was coming back from golf at the stop sign by Tuttle Mound parking area, I saw two kids, probably 14-16 in this cart/vehicle going pretty fast as they approached the stop sign. This wasn't your average cart. It was large, probably at least another foot higher off the ground than a golf cart and larger in size.....almost like those 4 wheeler type dune buggy vehicles, it was pretty sleek looking. The occupants sat very high which is what made me notice the vehicle. They were driving very carefree and pretty fast. I thought if the grand parents could see them now they probably would be very happy. This was probably an accident waiting to happen.

Maybe it's time to redesign the carts with more safety features. My ole SUV had roll over warnings on the visor and a roll bar.
Kids are not the only ones with accidents and more often they are used off of the golf courses now. Maybe a tip bar that swings out when the cart leans could help right it?

The biggest problem I have encountered is people of all ages is Please Stay on your side of the golf cart trail, I was almost killed at the turn comming from Pinellas when a man was day dreaming and was totally on my side when i rounded the corner. Be careful and be safe we all want to ejoy a few more years.

According to the POA 13 people have been killed in golf cart accidents in the last few years. We cannot be careful enough and it is wise to limit who uses our carts. It is not easy driving new in The Villages for anyone.

It's very tempting to assume driving a golf cart is sorta like driving a car only safer, because they don't go very fast (only 20 mph). Big mistake.
Because of the short wheelbase and tight turning radius, they are very maneuverable on the golf course, plus you can turn them around in your driveway. But they have a very high center of gravity, so if you make a quick turn at cart path speed, they are going to flip right over. Young kids aren't going to realize this and are very vulnerable. Beware.

Exactly. My son-in-law won't drive his car to LSL because, as he says, of the crazies in the golf carts.
