Thank you Gracie, I read it as a joke also. I was going to post LOL - good one, but didn't want to be the first post - o well, no harm done - TV is a great place to live.

The myth/story/fact of a high STD rate in TV has been discussed and disputed many times. To the best of my knowledge health records, including STD stats, are kept at the county level. While TV is a very large community it spans 3 counties, so I am suspect of any reporting that does not explain in detail it's data source. Being realistic we all know that reporters love to slant the news, and the facts, to suit there needs.

If you really are concerned stop by a county clerks office to ask where you can find health data yourself.

When I first bought here my sister who has a very large golf front home in Jupiter asked me about that. She also wanted to know if there were signs hanging up reminding people to be cautious. All I could do was laugh. [emoji12]

Go back and read it one more time. Read it and see if that isn't the gist of it. Rustyp you scoundrel. Many of us haven't taken our Blood Pressure medicine yet.
The original report said the STD was ("higher, than the national average"), and I believe the report, was erroneous.

It's like the old story where one person starts a story and by the time it's told to the tenth person, the story doesn't resemble anything like the original.

It's a wonderful activate community that shouldn't have it's reputation sullied by those who have no concept, of what it is really like here.

Sometimes, humor is lost, in this type of communication.

I think the STD stories and numbers get circulated more than the actual STD's. Old news.

[QUOTE=Jima64;1092339]Most Tv seniors have regular health care checkups so wouldn't it be detected and possibly treated if possible. I would hope so and if you knew you were infected , what are your possible legal responsibilities. For hiv positive you can be prosecuted.[/QUOTE

You are not talking to me I assume? IMO they or their would of be better choice of words IMO of course. I NEVER had std. Lots of time between checkups and symptoms. Happy hour not so happy sometimes afterwords

Good news. Kind of refutes that defamatory article that came out quite a while back, painting the Villages as some sort of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Default Detailed Data

From the CDC, the data for The Villages is:

Population: 101,620

Chlamydia Cases: 233
Gonorrhea Cases: 47
Syphilis Cases: 2

Total STDs: 282

Rate per 100K population: 277.5

The city with the highest rate was Montgomery, AL with a rate of 1899.2 per 100K. The Villages is not even in the top 100. So, another myth shattered....

This thread has made me realize that a large number of folks respond based on the title without reading the OP.
