I worked for UPS for a short time back in the 90s. They had designated areas where it was OK to leave a package on the porch and other areas where it was not allowed.

This was back in the day when a signature was required for every package. But in some areas, they allowed what was called "driver release". In some areas we were instructed to leave the package around the back of the house. In others it was fine to leave it on the front porch.

I would suspect that Amazon has a similar policy and that The Villages is considered a very low risk area.

I believe that they balance the cost of having drivers work more hours against the occasional theft of a package.

If Amazon tracking shows that it a package has been delivered and you don't have it, you need to call and let them know. They're usually pretty good about taking care of these situations.
