If the unit is more than 10 years old, you may want to consider replacing it. If it is a Carrier unit, you can copy the model number and serial number from the sticker on the inside unit, and go to the Carrier website to see the warranty status for your specific unit.

There should be a sticker on the air handler (in the garage) indicating who installed the unit, call them for a WARRANTY repair. If they give you any problems call Home Warranty.

If the thermostat is blank, it may be a clogged condensation line.

These should be flushed monthly with hot water.

If you want an honest assessment , call Chuck Farrell. I had 3 repairmen out last week. The first two said that I needed a new unit. The third one said "I can fix this"...and, he did! $99.00 service call. Chuck Farrell...
