Default How to insure a cart that comes w/house rental

I notice many rental homes come along with a golf cart. I asked a number of insurance agents how to insure that risk if I buy a rental house with a golf cart to use and they want no parts of it! Are all these carts uninsured?

Our experience as well. Has anyone out there found a solution to this problem? Would REALLY appreciate some guidance. We called AAA and they were useless.

Hubby "sweaty" who thinks he's a legal smarty because he watches the television cop shows suggests that the home owner insist that the renter present a copy of the renters personal liability insurance policy, which any sane villager must have, and this could pay for any sins they might commit while driving your cart.

Would have to be a homeowners policy which cover golf carts while being used on golf courses during golf activities. They are of no use and would not protect the owner of the rental in any event.

We have our cart insured with Progressive. We recently rented our home for a month and Progressive provided a form that added the renters to our policy as additional insured drivers for the time period of the rental. There was no additional charge and yes, we actually saw the document with their names on it. We deal with Thomas Insurance Agency in Leesburg and the walked us through the process.

We rented out our property with our cart. We insured the cart. It carried over to our renters.

The Million Dollar Question is what type of coverage is transferable? Usually.....It's Property Damage to the cart "only". With Tenants your main concern should be Liability and Personal Injury & You can throw out any waivers they sign. If something serious happens you can guarentee litigation papers are soon following. I choose to Rent my home without a cart & it hasn't been an issue. I want to live in that home one day and not take the chance of having all my assets taken away. So....Think Twice about your exposure. Seen it All!! 25 Years in the Insurance Business ~

Thanks to gomoho answering this question for me, we have the insurance through Thomas too. We have added several people, 2 at a time, and the insurance company has been amazing making the process so easy. Fortunately, we haven't had any claims to see if that goes well, but the insurance itself has been great.

A bit delayed, but thank you gomoho for the info.
