Its amp/hrs do the math--the more the amp/hrs the better--we had 28 batteries on our boat- 4 for engine starts, 4 for gen -set starts--12 for inverter bank, 6 for house bank--the engine batteries were 8D's--the rest were all 6V==Trojans--I know batteries

Very important--make sure the area where the batteries are mounted in is clean--if you have acid drips it can result in shorting of the batteries and individual batteries will cause other batteries to go bad
When I served on an old diesel electric submarine, use to scrub batteries (keep the solution away from the battery fills) with a mixture of baking soda & pure water (distilled water)-- and make sure nothing goes into the batteries but distilled water(not purified or filtered water)--after scrubbing the batteries rinse them with"pure" water |

I changed my ezgo from 4 12s to 8 6v and never looked back. I had battery boys do the conversion. Very reasonable. After living on a boat for 7+ years where you live by batteries, the more amp hours the better. If you choose to go to 8 six volts, look on the site for AJBrown? I think that was the name. He did a wonderful series on a ccds conversion and gives plenty of run time information after completion of the work.
