Last year I called a recommended cart repair person to repair my cart that had lost power and wasn't performing as it always had. He drove it and said it was operating as it should and wouldn't believe my claims of not performing as it had. Finally, after reading recommendations on TOTV I called Shon from FIVE STAR. Actually the guy you recommended is the one I couldn't convince there was problem. The controller was replaced and it runs great.

We've been using Shon for about the last 4 years - very happy. We have 2 electric carts and are snowbirds. Always schedule a yearly maintenance for when we get back in the fall. Hasn't steered us wrong yet. New batteries every 3-4 years, new brake shoes a couple of times, and other minor maintenance issues. We feel very comfortable driving our carts.

I kind of figured it was the guy I recommend. When I see him in a hood working on a cart I will make sure he hears about it

AJ, Reading through this post I think the issue was not a controller but what is called an MCOR. Perhaps the OP could confirm this. An MCOR related issue can be intermittent, that's why it happened on one guy but not the other. MCOR is a $150 part and takes about 5 minutes to install, this sounds like what was replaced. I do question it being replaced, if it is indeed the issue, because if it is intermittent it is usually not an issue of replacing the part, although replacing the part will cure the problem.

You're right it was the MCOR. But it was NOT an intermittent problem. The cart was 8 to 9 mph slower than it was and you had to depress the pedal 2/3's of the way down to make it move. The cart originally had a top end well above 20 mph. The top end dropped to 19 mph and half that going up some hills. The first Technician looked at the motor and said it was a stock motor and performing as it should. I insisted it had performed much better and had hit speeds well above 20 mph. Shon informed me that Golf Cart Connection who originally built the cart had received a shipment of high speed motors that the customers were bringing back with a complaint, they rebuilt the factory motors and made them high speed motors, thus the reason the first Tech most likely saw the motor and told me there was no way it performed as I stated it did. Unfortunately there was no convincing him and I lived with it until now. So again THANK YOU Shon!

It is all making sense now. I can see where it would be tough to convince someone you have a big motor when it is disguised as a little motor. With that being said, I hate to be debbie downer but 95% of the time your issue would have been the accelerator bar was worn and not giving the MCOR 100% throttle. Cost on the bar is about 10 bucks.
Im sure the new Club Car MCOR 4 updatekit was installed, this kit includes a new accelerator bar. I guess the good news is your cart is repaired.
