Apples to Oranges! I have a Yamaha and a Streetrod with a Club Car chassis, the Yamaha has been more maintenance free !

Call around to Private Golf courses and ask them what kind of carts they have. I doubt you'll find 10% of the private clubs use Yamaha golf carts.

Before Lithium batteries were available, gas Yamahas were a reasonable choice for The Villages. Since Lithium Batteries, the world has changed. According to a reasonable source (who works there), the Developer owned Golf Cart operation is now selling 2:1 battery to gasoline and Star Sirius is their best seller.

I'm sure the legacy gas Yamahas will be around TV for a few more years, but they're fading fast. I think the ClubCar is vastly superior to the Star Sirius (I have a Sirus), but ClubCar doesn't seem to focusing on the off-course market.

From the looks of a Publix parking lot, you will see many fewer Cadillac’s vs Hyundai’s. I wonder if price has something to do with it? Of course more gas carts/cars than EV carts/cars too. To each their own.

Some courses don't have a cart barn to park and charge a fleet of electric carts. Expensive to build if you don't have one already. No cart barn on my course, so the gas carts are simply parked outside. But hopefully they will build a barn and charging facility and get rid of those noisy gas Club Cars.

Golf carts you push or pull, golf cars you drive.........terminology...carts is slang

When golf courses buy golf cars, the costs range from low of EZ-GO, mid of Yamaha, high of Club Car. Trade in value figures in as most courses trade every 5 while value is up. Club Car is also seen as a mark of a higher class of the club. Yamaha has made in roads, BUT,
most clubs buy electric and prefer club car. A golf car for 18 holes is only on for less than 30 minutes so it can go 36 holes.

That being said, get an extended range battery for the villages........or get gas to go fast, the noise will get you sooner or later, but you will ignore because you can go faster..vroom..............

I find it strange that in TV town that OLDER people want to drive gulf cars above 20 MPH, which is the posted speed limits in the residential neighborhoods. What's the point anyway? Is it some left over nostalgia from the teenage hot rod days. And like people say about the "jacked up" golf cars going 30 MPH, they are so LOUD that riding in one will give you a headache. Also the older ones STINK as they pass you by if you are out working in your yard and trying to listen to the radio. If The Villages were so DEVOTED to their residents as they would have you believe, they would REQUIRE Electric golf cars for less noise and pollution.

Most every other residential development in the USA, requires Electric Carts. The problem in The Villages, is all the legacy gas carts that folks have been hanging on to. They'd be a rebellion of major proportions, if they ever banned gas golf carts.

I suspect what we'll see in the next 5 years, is a requirement that golf carts are "registered" and TV will stop registering "new" gasoline carts.
