Default Customer quoted $4300 to fix, actually repair $100

The title of this thread is true, I'm posting, as it is the largest amount I've saved someone from a mis-diagnosed golf car. Good thing they wanted a second opinion and made a phone call. I've said this before here and elsewhere, don't be afraid to get a second opinion, it literally could save you thousands.

Even in the last weeks....
customer told $1200 to fix was $160, again mis-diagnosed
customer told $2000 to fix, $ fixed for $100, again mis-diagnosed

Customer told needed new clutches....nope....bad rear hub.

The crazy part, the above examples are all different shops.

Im not saying Im perfect.

Golf car repair in the villages has gotten really bad in the last 2 years.

Dont need any negative comments on this, as I am just trying to help....be aware. If one person decides to make a phone call for a second opinion, then this post helped.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Kenny, I agree that getting a second opinion is smart. You post a lot on here about golf cart repairs. You are a golf cart tech. If you are as good as you say you are then why not let everyone know what your company is, or who you work for in the golf cart repair business?

The guy I trust the most, and is the most respected among many Yamaha golf car techs nationwide, is unfortunately based too far away in Flint, Michigan. Don Plowman of Plowman's Carts.

Mostly in This day time repair shops are part replacers replace assemblies not repair the assemblies, or throw away get new one. It takes very knowledgeable tech to fix a part rather than just replace parts and that is if they made right call.

The reason is, my answers, statements, or advise are more credible if i am not looking to get work out of it.

You are spot on with the wrong diagnosis, get a second opinion. I’ve helped out a few people myself with their carts. This is after getting a wrong diagnosis. My own cart included. If something doesn’t seem right, it probably isn’t.

Why do you automatically assume they’re criminals? Could just be under educated.

For the same reason people claim those who live next to the villages rode their dirt bikes just to upset Villagers.

Everyone is out to get them...
