Why do you think your motor needs rebuilt? Golf car gas engines last a very long time-especially Club Cars

The engine has little or no compression.

I have a suggestion. Call Shon Roberts, a very good Club Car mechanic, and have him check it out (Five Star Golf Car Repair on 352-308-6272). He will do it right in your driveway. He is the only person who I let work on my 2003 Club Car, and I'll give you an example of why. Two years ago I asked Shon to come over and replace my brakes, as they were squealing and making other unpleasant sounds. He pulled the wheels off and told me I didn't need new brakes, as mine just needed adjustments. He made the adjustments and several other maintenance tasks, then performed the same work on my other Club Car too, and the entire bill came to around $100.00. He's also a pleasure to deal with.

![]() Chances are real good it doesn't need rebuilt. You do need to be careful who you take it too and don't tell them you think the motor needs rebuilt. Just have them figure out what is wrong with it. |

I agree with above, could be a bad/blown/leaking head gasket, loose head bolt(s), loose spark plug, etc. If the cart does not blow a lot of smoke when running, the rings are probably good. Valves could be a problem, if out of adjustment. You state low compression, did you do a compression test? If not I have the equipment for doing that.

Yes, did a compression test. 20 psi.

20 psi does appear to be very low, so I agree you need to have someone take a look at the engine. I will defer to others about who to call. I typically do my own work and have no experience with others doing cart repairs.

![]() Yeah, That wont work. Have someone look at it, its not as bad as you may think. If it quit all of a sudden, it could be very minor. Oil changed on a regular basis? |

Put a small amount of oil in the spark plug hole. If compression goes up, you have worn rings.
