There is/was a $460 coupon with purchase for Prime members.
1000A for 3-5 seconds only

Navitas Vehicles Systems has a "rolling chassis" made from an EZGO TXT frame with their 600A controller and 5KW AC motor for about $4000. Just add battery, seat, body panels and canopy of your choice. Quite a fun project for those so inclined.

I will be changing out the deep cycle lead acid with a LiFPo battery when the battery finally dies. LiFPo rolls off the tongue easily.

lifepo4-jpgI purchased a LIP battery for my trolling motor. I researched the you know what out of this - especially safety. I also purchased the recommended charger for it. Had it for 2 years - loved it. Performance is amazing. This summer I put it on the charger as usual (in my screen room). After several hours smelt like a chemical burning. The battery was still charging. The case was molten plastic and swollen 30-40% bulging out. It was so hot I could not get close to it. It would have caught fire soon. Don't know what to recommend re my experience. I was the guy that bragged about these batteries. After this experience I would not leave this type of battery unattended when charging. I am so disappointed because I loved the performance. Half the weight of lead acid and maintains peak performance throughout the usage cycle.

Why Do LiPo Batteries Swell Up And What Are The Causes?

To add insult to injury I can not find a recycle center near my summer home willing to dispose of the battery.

Call your trash disposal company (in our case Jacobs) and ask them about disposal, I know Sumter County has site where you can take old gas, TVs, and lots of other stuff, I recall seeing batteries, but I did not pay attention to the type. You should be able to call Sumter County and see if it would be accepted.

so here is what's happening in the lithium battery world....

Obviously, a whole bunch have hit the market place, everyone and their brother has started selling whatever brand has come around....early version that got alot of traction and sold well have not held up and started to fail. " but it has an 8 year warranty" you say. Yes it does, but if the manufacturer is no longer around, or just changed names.. guess what? your out of luck. OR, what has happened in some cases, the place that put them in, is no longer around, guess what? yep, your out of luck. Or if the place that put them in is still in business, but the battery company is gone, do you think they are going to warranty a 1000 dollar battery from another company? A great company would, but as you can imagine, most wont as they will have taken a big fat zero on that job.
Just some food for thought.

Exactly! None of this applies to the risk-averse! Usually with these products Amazon offers a 3 year warranty for about $170 that you can purchase at checkout.
