Default Educate me about Golf Cars

I will be moving to TV shortly and I am woefully ignorant about what to look for in a used golf car. Gas or Electric?, Best Makes/Models, desirable add ons, etc.
I am single but I expect many visitors so I'm thinking 4-seater?
Any information you folks can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Do you play golf? If not, then maybe for the sake of your guests, get a 4 seater with all seats facing forward.

However, are you moving into a CYV that will have a deep enough cart area in the garage. If not, then you need to stay with a standard length cart.

If you do play golf, then maybe get a cart with a convertible set of seats and bag carrier such as a Star Cart.

The other big choices will be, new or used golf cart? How big is your budget? Electric or gas cart, do you see yourself going from one end of TV to the other? Street legal cart, would you like the ability to go at higher speeds legally and to travel on most roads in TV? If so, then you'll need to be willing to buy Florida tags for your street legal and full insurance.

If you go with a electric cart, are you willing to fork over $800 every 4 or 5 years for new batteries? Would you rather just fill up at the gas station or keep a 5 gallon can of gas in your garage, you'll be getting about 40mpg with a gas cart.

Now that you've narrowed some of your choices, for quicker answers go to the search button of the top of this page. Fill in the search and you'll find these same questions have been answered almost monthly on this message board. One last question, do you fancy those Street Rod & Yesteryear vintage looking golf carts, then you'll need a bigger budget.

Yamaha Gas Carts are the most common carts here. You should be able to find one easily.

Definitely 2 seater, you can always rent a 4 seater. When we came we bought an electric cart (used and refurbished), then discovered we couldn't travel to all of the courses, play a round, and get home - so our second cart is a Yamaha gas cart with a Curtis cab (doors you can quickly shut when it rains or is cold). I had to work hard to convince my hubby about the Curtis cab, and now he wouldn't be without it!

We have the Star cart with convertible seats and find it works well for us. Love the electric cart. The quiet enhances the experience of cruising our beautiful paths and hearing the wildlife. Have never come close to a low charge in six years.

Default 4 Seater

We recently rented a 4-seater front facing cart. It was a really nice cart but it was long. It stuck out in the street when you parked vertically in a parking space. I was afraid someone would hit it. So, I would drop them off at the Square and go to the parking lot to park. It did fit in the 1 1/2 car garage but it was awkward getting both the cart and my large crossover in the garage!
