My wifes cart is plenty fast on the flat roads, but needs more power as it slows down so much going up hill. Could someone give me the number of someone that is good at making that happen.

Obviously you have an electric cart. I've seen some with high speed motors and gearing changes that will fly on the level but have little torque and will nearly die on a hill. Gas carts will only loose about 1 mph on a hill. I've heard that electric carts that use an a/c motor are much better. I'd just call around to the cart dealers and see what they can do but I'm sure that's just the nature of the beast.

Replace your stock 250 amp controller with an altrax 500 amp unit, that should give you what you need

Would this modification increase the speed capability when on level roads?

Not knowing how fast your going now my answer would be maybe.
if your already going 20 then maybe but not much, but would make a lot of difference in torque or hill climbing. Now after rereading the post I see there is no cart listed so answering questions is really difficult. It could be series, sepex 1985 to 2012 |

Simple swap the motor with a high torque motor about $275, same controller

I think the OP was asking WHO could help him in TV. I have never had this type of work done in TV as I try to DIY, so I do not know the answer who to recommend. Someone should be able to put in a new motor for < $500 for you. Selecting the right motor depends on your cart.
To set expectations my cart has a 'high speed' (24ish mph) motor (came with cart) and 500 amp controller and it still slows to 18ish up the steepest hill on Odell in Mallory. If you did want to try yourself or could find someone to just drop in a new motor at your home, I have seen folks have great success replacing the stock motor with a motor from Plumquick. You may find a motor with more power and torque is close enough and the only change you need. The Bandit - Plum Quick Motors Ps. I already know that 24mph is illegal for a non street legal cart, but I cannot afford to change the motor for a slower one, so I has to take my chances ![]() |
