Default Need a fan in the cart?

Hey everyone. We are in the process of "designing" our golf cart and wanted to check everyone's thoughts on the fans offered. We are looking at one of the new Yamaha Gas carts, and the fan that would be installed is a fairly large 2 fan unit that mounts at the top of the cart. Given the heat in the summer, we think that's probably a necessity, but would appreciate hearing from folks who have one or who don't have one. So what are your thoughts? Thanks!

I have a blade fan in my cart and it's pretty much useless for keeping cool. Where it is helpful is on those ocassions you get caught in a rain storm and have to drop the curtains in the summer. It gets HOT in there, so the fan is a definite plus. I have friends with the type of fan you are talking about and they love it.

I say... put it in. You'll not be sorry!

We have one of these, but you will need to have an auxiliary power port installed. Looks like a cigaret lighter hole. We clamp it on the bar at the top of the windshielld. Need to put a pad under it to keep from scratching the windshield. This one looks like it's a permanent mount. Ours has a BIG clamp on the end.

I have a Breezy Air fan in my cart which is attached to the roof between the passenger and driver's seat close to the windshield. If this is what you are talking about, YES YES YES you will not regret having it in the summer here. It has a strong breeze with 3 settings that will instantly cool you on the golf course. I have had mine for 3 years now and have never regretted paying for it.

We have a ceiling mount fan also. My only negative is that it is noisy, noisy and noisy!

If you want to be cool, get a radio. Makes for a great experience.

If you ride around and check you will find few carts with fans. If you are playing golf you are not in your cart that much. If you are riding around there is a breeze from the movement of the cart.

I have been here 10 years and when I ride in carts that have fans they are never on.

Save your money for a brewski after golf.

Open the upper winshield a.k.a Air Conditioner.

Many friends have fans. Neither they nor I are impressed.

Never understood the reason for installing a fan in a golf cart when you can open the windshield and have a nice breeze while zooming around.

Yes, you can put the windshield down and get a nice breeze, but when I am on the golf course, it sure feels good to sit with the fan on while waiting for someone else to tee off. JMHO. To each his own.

Another option is a screen for the upper half of a fold down windshield. I had one made 5 years ago and it still works great. Provides nice airflow, minimal noise, and keeps the bugs from smacking you in the face. Only effective when you're moving, of course.

Have your wife fan you with a piece of cardboard while you're riding. For her birthday gave her a spray bottle to spray you now and then with water. A wet towel on the back of your neck can really feel good also and you may want to suggest that to her. Of course while she's pumping gas you have to get out of the cart so she can get to the gas tank and check the oil so that gets uncomfortable, but if she can learn to check the oil while the pump is running it will minimize your time to be uncomfortable waiting.
I hope this helps.

P.S. Don't let my wife see this.

I think your right Bill. Perhaps Shrimpy could volunteer to ride on the back of bandsdavid's cart and be his best fan, by cheering him on as he drives along...
"This is your golf cart,
And it is the best;
Now that your riding in it,
forget about the rest;
You've seen other golf carts,
They don't pass the test;
They're not numero one,
Like yours, it is the best!
Go...... BD... Yeaaaaa!!!"
