Hi,
I have a 2017 Yamaha Drive 2 gas cart. The other day I got caught out in the rain. Several times when I pushed on the gas pedal the engine rev’d up but the cart was very sluggish to get going, even on a minimal slope. As things dried up it got much better. Is this something I should have checked out? |

IMO Water got on the belt causing the slipping. Once it dried off back to normal. I highly doubt the belt bad, but you can visually inspect and measure it. Drive belt is about the easiest thing to change

Get your drive belt checked! Have your clutch checked, while you are at it! Good luck

Belt could be glazed from spinning, wear, clutch etc. Visually check, if the belt going over the large sheeve (secondary clutch) is not an 1/8 inch larger than the sheeve it needs replaced

I also have 2017 Yamaha. If caught or parked in poring rain it slipped even when new. Mattering on age and mileage it will get worse. If it works properly when dry enjoy your day and at next service have it checked . (My experience )

There you go, 100% of the non-professionals agree.

I would check the belt and I recommend stopping in one of the villages golf cart stores to make sure it’s not anything serious.

Now 101.5% I had a suggestion but forgot it, hence the .5% reduction....

Did you also notice that the gauges went out? I was caught in the rain and the gas gauge, speedometer, etc., went out. I was told that that will happen when it gets wet (and boy, was it wet). I also experienced the sluggish behavior you described. Apparently it's a known problem in wet weather.

The symptom is a racing engine and a cart going slowly. We have put about 8,000 miles on the cart in 2 years. I don't know if this is normal usage or not, but I am a little concerned we may have a lemon. |

Is it belt drive? Is the belt slipping when it gets wet?
