Default self cancelling turn signal problem

Maybe someone here can help.I installed an aftermarket steering wheel in my 2019 yamaha that I bought used a couple weeks ago and the turn signals are working fine, but wont self cancel now.
after some searching, it appears its made by a company called Elephant and is exclusive to The Villages golf cars.
Any advice would be appreciated!

Take a look at your old steering wheel (I hope you still have it) to see if there were some magnets installed to provide the self cancelling feature. If this is the case, you have 2 choices, put the old steering wheel back, or see if the new one can be modified to include the magnets.

thanks for the reply
i do have the old wheel
no magnets
i think the villages uses a different steering column to accomodate the turn signals, striker speedometer, etc
I know theres a plastic sleeve that the wheel is screwed to that has cogs that activate a plastic pill looking thing to trip the turn signal off
thanks for the response though

It sounds like unless the trip mechanism you mention can be duplicated you will not be able to get the self cancelling function. Now there is a company called Signal Dynamics that sell 3 levels of self cancelling turn signals, basic, basic with brake lights, and basic with brakes lights and 4 way flashers. As I recall these go for around $100 to $150 and need to be wired into the existing wiring harness.
If you are interested in bringing your cart and the old steering wheel, maybe I can fabricate a part, photos would be great.

Happened to me once. Mechanic sat in driver's seat and very strongly pulled steering wheel towards him. Hard. A few times.
Fixed it and never failed afterward.
Likely not what I would have tried, but maybe that was a shortcut somehow.
