I have a gas none FI Club Car. It will go about 22 MPH on level, but slows to around 15 going up even small hills. Is there any adjustment to help this.

Wife and I had similar problem, then we lost about 150lb between us , and the cart flew up the hills, but never hit the superfast downhill speeds again.

I was going to suggest it might have to do with the power to weight ratio, but I didn't want to offend anyone. 😉

Could be a clogged muffler, that would have to be replaced.

Golf Carts weigh between 800-1200 pounds but only have a 10-12Hp engine. Add another 500-600 pounds of passengers and gear & you could be pushing a ton or more up those hills with that small engine. The only hills I run into are at the tunnels & they are pretty short. What is the rush?

FYI: Electric carts have only 3-5Hp. Mine would only go 20MPH on the flats until I replaced the heavy lead acid batteries with lighter lithium ion. I gained 3MPH. But then I am also running 8" tires which also hurt my speed.

We have a 2023 Yamaha Gas 2 seater. On the flats it will do 21 mph. As we begin going up the hills approaching bridges it starts to slow down. if the bridge hill is a long one- like the one just before entering Brownwood- it will slow to 12-14 mph even with a good running start. That is with both of us in it. No idea what a single occupant would do to that speed decline.

I have a gas-powered Club Car Precedent. It goes between 19.7 and 20.0 on straight-away flats and downhill, but will go as high as 20.3 if I drive around a slight bend to the right. I'm assuming that's a weight-shifting thing. I can get it to 17 going up on the golf cart bridge to the Historic Section.

My brand new Quiet Tech also slows significantly on hills, max about 22 on flat ground. I don't think anything is wrong, it's just the nature of the beast. Maybe I can put my Suzuki King Quad 700 motor in it and no one will notice?

Not knowing condition and age of cart IMO Several things can affect speed when load put on engine. Weight carrying, wind, tire pressure, belt, clutch, governor, spark, carb adjustment problem, air filter, spark plug, and engine just worn out just name few. IMO carburetor carts are not as efficient as fuel injection. Governor should call for more fuel when load put on engine. Which unless going up 10 or so more degree grade governor compensates close to governed speed the cart set at.
