Hmm. I bought a remanufactured Yamaha from C&C in October, but mine didn't come with this.

My tank is opaque so I can see the level of the gas inside. I pump quickly until it quits. Then I slowly continue to fill until the gas is up to the "corner" - where the top begins to curve to become the side.
