Default 4-seater

I would like recommendations on renting a 4-seater golf car, with all seats facing forward please. I have one on hold with The Villages Golf Car Store for week after Christmas, but was hoping someone could rent me one for a week a little less expensive. Thanks very much.

Also, if you have experience driving one of these, how much difference with a regular cart? We have one of those, just renting 4 seater with family in town.

Thanks,

We just rented one from Jim Followell. #352-259-7525. He's great to rent from. As far as handling, it's pretty much the same as a regular cart. Goes a little slower up hill when loaded with four people.

Be careful turning. You need to go "into" the turn more before you turn or the back wheel might hit. There are some "tight" turns here and there.

We enjoy our four seater facing front. Miss Helene can see where she is going rather than where she has been.

gracie's got a great point with the "take the turn a bit wider" thing. You definitely don't want to hop a curb in a cart!!

Also, you'll see all the standard/2-seater carts parked perpendicular to the curbs in a lot of the parking spots at the squares, for example. No-can-do with the 4-seater design you're talking about - it's too long. You'll have to park it just like you would a car. Depending on where you are, time of day, what's going on, etc., it makes it a bit tougher to find a parking spot right on the square itself. There are usually plenty of parking spaces in the larger parking lots behind the stores, though.

Default we rented one once

Early on, we rented a 4-seater, all seats front-facing. We didn't own our own golf cart yet and had company coming. Found out we did not enjoy driving it like we do our 2 seater and regular (back-to-back seats) golf carts that we have now. Kind of felt like we might as well be driving our car.

As stated above, parking is an issue. If you are 2 couples visiting, I would recommend renting two 2-seaters. Only reason I can see for getting one (4 seater facing front) is if you have a 3rd or 4th member of your household traveling with you on a regular basis, like Gracie. Or, if you have little kids visiting, can put a kid or two easily between 2 adults in each seat.

If you feel uncomfortable riding in the rear seat (and it is different - feels like you are going faster and you don't see the bumps, etc. coming up), get it fitted with seat belts - helps a lot.

Just something to think about. We rented a four seater from the Golf Cart Store a few years back in Feb. The biggest problem was that it was cold riding in it because it didn't have a sunbrella. We found that we didn't use it much that week. Also Gracie's post about watching the turns into the tunnel. I hit the top of the roof of the cart because I didn't take the turn so well. I was banned from driving it after that.

Cool

We also used one of Jim Followell's cart, when the kids were here in the spring. The seat were back-to-back, but it did have sunbrella sides, which we wanted. At least it was able to do 19+MPH...
