Default Yamaha Golf Cart - Disable Regenerative Braking

I just bought a 2005 Yamaha Electric Cart which has new Trojan batteries. It goes maximum speed just under 20mph. My problem is that Yamaha has a braking system that slows it down when lifting my foot off the accelerator and/or going downhill. Was told that Yamaha has this built-in feature for their electric carts. The Yamaha Village's dealer tried to program it the best they could; but it hasn't helped much. They also said that disabling it may do harm to other components.

Has anyone on this forum experienced the above and what can you offer as suggestions so my Yamaha can run smooth and continuously?

I didn't have a Yamaha, but my 2007 Par Car had regenerative braking. Going downhill it would almost come to a crawl. I found if I pressed down on the accelerator slightly, it would roll better. It wasn't free-wheeling by any means, but it did maintain speed better. Maybe this would work for you.

MY EZGO has regenerative braking. You just have to get used to it. Instead of taking the foot off of the gas pedal just ease up a little and let the brake do its job. As far as downhill, your cart is designed to not go over 20 mph so it will automatically slow down even if you have the pedal to the metal.

On the back of the motor there are three wires, red black and green there is a plug about 4 inches from the motor unplug it and test the braking. You can always plug it back in.
