There are a lot more kittens available in the spring. Last spring we went to Citrus Co shelter, as it is more rural and has more accidental kittens. The shelter was clean, pleasant and we love our Bubba. IIRC, his adoption fees were under $100.00, and it included neutering, first round of shots and a microchip.

No kitten should be adopted out and taken away from the mother before 8 weeks, for several reasons.

I have a close friend that works at Seminole County Animal Services in Sanford. I believe they have hundreds of cats and sometimes take in a complete litter of kittens. I’m sure they will not release a 4-week kitten but a 10-week is possible. I think they charge well under $50. and that includes spay/neuter and chip. Give them a call and if you would like I can give you her name and contact info, just PM me. She may be able to tell you over the phone exactly what’s available or she can steer you to the right person.
I just did a MapQuest, TV to the shelter is 1:18 or 58 miles. |

Our Bootsie was adopted through Petco here in The Villages.. His brother was available too at that time. He was neutered and we had to be vetted by the person who placed him there who rescues cat's. He was about four months old and he is such a treasure. He has been with us now for a year.
