That is the fattest coyote with the sleekest coat I have ever seen.

BTW, don't know if there are any coyotes around St. Pete, Russia but they have a Coyote Ugly Saloon!Coyote Ugly St. Petersburg – Coyote Ugly Saloon

That is very sad to watch. That poor animal is obviously out of its habitat and is stressed.

Default Coyote in St. Petersburg.

The several coyotes I have seen here in TV have all looked more like well fed dogs than the scrawny coyotes I typically saw when I lived out west. They seem to have an abundance of food available to them. While they might take an occasional pet (and I do not like that), the local flora and fauna is to their liking.

There are lots of rabbits, snakes, ducks, geckoes, etc. available on the preserves.

Judging from that video if I were a coyote in AZ, CA, NV or NM I would get my scrawny behind to FL asap!

With all the coyote sightings mentioned here in TV where are the photos or clips? Come on Tal, just one photo.

A group of us was playing golf on Saddlebrook when a bobcat sauntered by. The photo was captured by a cell phone camera. I remember someone posting pigs on Pelican. So a common sight of a coyote should be no problem.

So far, there has only been one coyote actually seen snatching a pet--the little dog that the owner took out late at night off leash.

Now here is the story of a cat "being killed by a coyote," but if you read the written story in the link embedded in the first story Tal provided, a couple of things come to light: the cat was an outdoor cat (they show taking it for a walk off leash during the day), they live in front of some bushes, and the cat was killed between Thursday night and Friday morning, with no one actually witnessing the killing.

There are other wild animals around here too. A raccoon, for instance, can fight a cat and win. I've seen and heard that in MI.

Keep your pets inside, or on leashes, and don't let them onto the lanai overnight. And don't spread stories you cannot substantiate.

You are right about racoon - cat encounters. My sister-in-law had a 20 pound cat who was mean and territorial. Her vet said on the many emergency visits that her cat's wounds were consistent with a racoon battle. Evidently racoons are territorial also. Unfortunately, the cat eventually died of FIV contracted with a fight with another cat. People, keep your cat indoors.
