Default Don't let this happen again!

I am having trouble trying to find words for what I am going to post.

My heart is broken today. Yesterday another dog was stolen out of a yard in The Villages.

Kathy Bork and I have stopped in our travels and told people to keep your dog on a short lead and chip and tag your pets!

We hear the same answer every time... Our pets don't leave.

1. YES THEY DO!

2. There are predators out there watching your pet. If you do not have them on a short lead, they will take them. They are on the ground and in the sky! They have been taken from retractable leads in The Villages.

3. People are watching our homes and stealing our pets.

4. Your golf cart is easy prey for both! Don't leave your pet in a cart and go into a store. Other people will sit outside and do what you should be doing and protecting your pet while you are in there shopping

Predators are hungry and your pets are worth a lot on the open market.

The dog yesterday was taken out of the person's yard. They took the collar off and left it in the driveway! We have learned there is a dog flipping ring doing this! The dog had an invisible fence.

Last month a resident let his dog out, it wandered off and into a pond to drown.

Last year a dog was taken by a coyote out of a yard.

Two years ago a gator got a dog when a resident was walking around the pond with his dog off leash.

If your dog is chipped, they can't do anything with it. You have branded that dog to you!

Dogs are like two-year-olds. You wouldn't leave them alone, don't leave your pet alone.

Spread the word. If you see something say something. My heart is breaking for the family of the dog that was just stolen. They thought they did everything right and their family member is gone. We are doing everything we can to find her and get her home.

Losing a pet in The Villages breaks all our hearts and The Lost Pets of The Villages team, as well as the county teams, work hard tying to get them back. We can prevent this.

Don't be another statistic. Now you know better and it's up to all of us to pass the word. I know people are not going to like me for this. But I will be screaming from the rooftops about this from now on! I am making it my project to not have this happen again!
