I live in CDD 1 and our covenants say 1 dog. But I have never heard of someone being so petty as to report someone that has 2 dogs and minds their own business. Wow...did you draw the short straw when they were handing out neighbors! This puts you in an impossible situation.

I just can't imagine that they could come to your door and expect to inspect the premises for an extra pet.
I feel badly for her.

As for an inspection, I wouldn’t let ANYONE in my home without a warrant. And if they approach the front door they’re trespassing.

I do like the pet sitting idea.

Default How would they know?

She was allowed to move here with two dogs, she still just has two dogs. Seems it would be her word against his about one passing on, esp. if the replacement is the same breed.Too bad people can’t just live and let live, sheesh. There are much bigger battles to be concerned with.

Nice to know there are residents like you with integrity and respect for your neighbors. You got my vote.

We came here with two pets. After one died, we decided to foster dogs. One at a time. But even though we were within the designated number of pets at the time we bought, we were told by our realtor that we could come with whatever we had. We just had to whittle down to two as they passed away.

Why would the TV sales agents tell you something about pets that could come back to bite you? I think this lady, or spring_chicken should point that out to deed compliance. One arm of TV can't be telling you something that another arm of TV won't uphold.

Default Hearsay

I have NEVER ever heard of anything on this forum that made me believe anyone had to give up a pet.

To the OP, please tell us what happened when you called and asked about the number of pets? I have to believe that your widowed neighbor will never have to give up a dog or pay a fine.

It's common that a Sales Rep will tell people that you can move here with three dogs; but when a dog dies, you can't replace it.
Thousands of people have been told that - it's an "unwritten" deed restriction of sorts.

Good for you.

No such thing as an unwritten deed restriction.

Are you referring to the fact that she's being accused of having more dogs than is allowed, or are you referring to what the realtor told her she could do?

Does anyone know what district she's in? OP????? She's your neighbor. What district is she in?

Which rule... the one the realtor told her about when she was house-hunting, or the one her neighbor said she's breaking?

There's something squirrely about this whole thing. Why won't OP state what district it is?

CDD 1 deed restrictions allow for two pets. So your neighbor is not out of compliance. Someone is trying to harass.

Two are allowed. There is no problem. Excellent.
