Default Doggie Doors

How many of you have Doggie Doors? Does it go out into your lanai or to a yard? I mean.... Is your birdcage grass or cement?

AngieFox, we have a doggie/kitty door that fits in the slider. It's as tall as the slider, and snaps right into the track. It's clear, so we can see out, except for the flipflop part at the bottom. Well, actually, now that I look at it, the flipflop part is clear, too. I have the litterbox outside on the lanai with a little table & tablecloth over it. (We could never find a convenient place in the villa for the litterbox) Baby Monroe loves his kitty door, and I love not getting up every 5 minutes to let him in or out.

Our neighbors have this style of doggie door from the house to the lanai, and they have another doggie door from the lanai to the grass outside so their doggies can run in and out whenever they want. We live in CYVs.

Default Doggie doors

Our dog Meg, is thoroughly spoiled. Hubby installed a thru the house double-flap dog door. He also installed a single flap (cat door) thru the lower small screen in the birdcage. We planted a thick hedge about 3' all the way around the birdcage, and Meg can let herself out to the mini lawn, then come back inside at her pleasure. The sturdy shrubs make a secure "fence".

I had a doggie door put into the bottom portion of my screened lanai. I used Todd's Screen Repairs - I think that is the name of the company. He was highly recommended on TOTV. It cost $150 and they did an outstanding job. Todd's number is 315-9517.

We live in a CYV and a dog door was installed by previous owners. Thank goodness! We've always had dog doors and don't see living without one. I meant to get the dog door that fits into the slider but keep forgetting, so I have the lanai door opened enough for The Child to go thru. We close the dog door at night. I get creeped out by the stories of gators and other varmints crawling in at night.

Default pet door

I just got one at Home Depot. It is like previously described, fits the slider from top to bottom. It comes with a lock you can install. Looks very professional and very easy to put in. $124. It comes in different sizes for small or large pets. It is easy to remove in case you want to leave for a period of time and prefer a more secure lock. My kitten learned how to use it in 1 day. She prefers the lanai over the house.

We have a doggie door here... I had never seen the slider door!!! I just found them. Do you have the "accordion" sliding glass doors?

I installed a pet door that replaces the glass in one of the sliders and so the door opens and closes and locks normally without narrowing the opening and defeating the gaskets on the door that keep the outdoors, outside. I ordered it from a company called Pet Door Design, and had it shipped here and installed by the company that installed the glass in my house originally. It works great and looks great. Here's the link if you want to investigate, and a picture of my slider.

(It seems they're in the process of relocation, but are accepting orders for future delivery according to the website)
