Default Forever Hope Dogs

These are some of the dogs that have been at the shelter for awhile and need to find their forever homes. As you can see there is a variety of breeds to choose from. As some of you know I am all about dachshunds, so I am hopeful that Wayne, the dachshund, will find a loving home. I hate that he has to spend his senior years in a kennel setting instead of a warm, quiet home. Do any of you have room for one more furbaby?

This is from South Lake Animal League's Facebook page: Our Forever Hope dogs have been with us for a while and are patiently waiting for their forever family. Will it be yours? Fill out our adoption application if you are interested in adopting: South Lake Animal League - Adoption Application

If interested in any of these dogs, be sure to ask for your senior discount.

I wish these organizations would stress the beauty and benefit of senior folks adopting senior dogs. Giving each other love and comfort in those final years. I understand quite often there are physical issues that might prohibit a senior from adopting a senior dog, but a good fit isn't out of the realm of possibility.

First I want to mention that "senior" dogs mean different things to different people. Some organizations consider seniors to be 10 and over. But where we got our current little girl it was 7 and over. And nobody believes she is 7. She is like a puppy running around and playing when appropriate, yet quiet and napping when appropriate. I wish more people would consider senior dogs.

I want to thank the people on this forum who some time back said all sorts of positive things about adopting a senior dog. We adopted a senior dachshund and she has been the best dog we have ever had. Thank you TOTV friends. And thank you to whoever had her before us. My husband had always been dead set against adopting a senior. Now he wouldn't trade her for the world.

I had a senior dog before (we had him from a puppy) and during his senior years it was great. We didn't have to walk him like we used to, he slept alot, was quiet, liked to cuddle on the couch during tv time. What more can a senior ask for? Senior humans and senior dogs make a great combination.
