Default Georgia Dozen

FLDR got an email on August 19, 2012 about 100+ doxies being taken from a Georgia breeding operation and the GA Humane Society needed help from rescues.

We asked our foster homes if they could take some of these doxies to foster and many of our wonderful foster homes said yes! Because of them, FLDR offered to take 12 of the GA doxies. We had to partner with a rescue in GA, because the Georgia Department of Agriculture requires that a rescue be licensed in the state of GA and since we aren’t, we found Angels Among Us Pet Rescue to assist us. Through much coordination, it was arranged that we would get 12 of the GA doxies, the “GA Dozen”. Then, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue asked if we could help transport an emaciated Dalmatian to Tampa (to Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay) also and we agreed.

On Saturday, 9/1/12, 10 of the GA Dozen & a Dalmatian, were transported (by an Angels Among Us volunteer) from Gainesville, GA to Valdosta, GA where one of our wonderful foster homes, Monique & Steve, picked them all up to transport them to Orlando. Only 10 were spayed & neutered and ready to go that day. The other 2 are supposed to come to us at a later date. Monique & Steve drove them all the way to Orlando, stopping off in Gainesville, FL, to drop off 1 doxie to a foster home. When they reached Orlando, 2 doxies were picked up for foster homes, 3 were taken by Monique & Steve to their area to be fostered (1 by them) and 4 doxies and the Dalmatian were transported to Auburndale. They were all picked up there to be transported to Tampa, to drop off the Dalmatian & the rest of the 4 doxies went to Myakka City to be fostered in that area.
Go to The GA Dozen & a Dalmatian | Florida Dachshund Rescue – FLDR to see some of the pictures of the GA Dozen & a Dalmation. FLDR is happy we could help and grateful to everyone who helped make this possible!

God bless you all. I'm sure they need donations so hopefully some of us will dig deep.
