The Happy Horse Rescue Farm located on 42 - one mile east of 441 is in need of EXPERIENCED horse handlers/caretakers who can commit to a few days per week from 7:30a.m. until chores are completed (usually9:00ish).

We feed, groom, muck and maintain the property (including feed and equipment barn, rest room, stalls, etc.) Must be able to lift 50 lb bags of feed, load, muck, push and dump wheel barrels as instructed. Groom and care for the horses. Train and perform groundwork with the horses, if/as requested. Must be team oriented and willing to participate in whatever it takes to get the job done. We also organize a few fund raisers throughout the year and look for our team members and their families to assist us in our efforts.

Late last year we opened the volunteer group to all those who were interested in helping. We had literally hundreds of people sign up. Although our intention was to reach out to each and every interested volunteer, we just did not have the resources to do so. We started at the top of the list and just kept on going until we realized that we cannot teach people common sense. Since we could not afford to increase the liability limits on our insurance to cover carelessness, to ensure for the safety and well being of all the workers on the Farm and the horses, we had no choice but to suspend the volunteer program. We have since decided that we could use a couple of assistants but only if they have experience working with teams of horses.

If you are interested, experienced and can volunteer some time in the mornings on a consistent basis, we would like to hear from you. Please know that you will be required to sign a waiver of liability which holds the Farm harmless in case of injury or death. We will entertain those who are interested by appointment only.
