I use a center console car seat for our 8lb dog in the car, but it's too big to squeeze between us in the cart. I just bought an inexpensive leash and wrapped it around the steel structure that supports the front seats to a short length so he can't jump off the seat and tether that leash to his harness and he sits (or sleeps) between us on the front seat. Safe - he can't jump out and if we stopped short he would be restrained from falling off the seat.

Thank you for checking, I must have mixed up the news article between proposed and passed.

I have a car seat for mine. A car seat can be attached with a seat belt or bungee if necessary. My car seat has an adjustable leash that I attach to her harness. However secure that is , I still hold on to her collar just in case. If a car seat doesn’t work for yours there are short belts that click right into the piece your seat belt attaches to. That would keep your dog secure although not as comfy.

Safe dog cart rides
Here's what I do: Keep a second leash wrapped around the seat and click it onto your dog's regular leash.

Be very careful, that regular leash can fall off the edge of the cart and tangle into the turning wheel and pull the dog from the cart. Best to clip the dog directly into a harness and leave the leash in the cart’s storage basket.

They make special car harnesses for pets. But we just tied our dogs leash to the golf cart. The leash was hooked to her regular harness that we used for walks. The specially made ones are pretty restrictive for a dog. And maybe hot too.

our front seat doesn't have room for seat, maybe shelf behind us but not sure that would be safe. |

These pics show suggestion with two different restraints, think shorter one will be best, as you can see the shelf behind seat, has no way to attach securely, I think the shorter leash will definitely restrain, at least safer, the back of seat cannot be moved, so had to attach to bottom seat, yipsters!

Homemade dog carrier
This is a homemade dog carrier for a bicycle but would work in a golf cart too. Was thinking I would like to do this for my dog on my recumbent trike.
