Default "Here We GROW Again!" Open House

Starting with our being the 100th project of Rescue Rebuild/GreaterGood.org in January and continuing with the addition of the pole barn in late spring, this has been a year of tremendous growth for the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County. And here we GROW again! On Saturday, December 3, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, we will be celebrating the Grand Opening of our newest facilities, a renovation/expansion of the Kitty Quarantine area and a brand new kennel holding area for dogs. We have removed the old sun porch from Kitty Quarantine and replaced it with a new building that is connected to the old Kitty Kottage through a breezeway. This renovation and expansion not only gives us more space but it is a more flexible, usable space. The new kennel runs, each with an igloo dog house, are intended specifically to allow us to house more dogs who are awaiting pick-up by our rescue partners.

We are very proud of these changes that will allow us to better serve the needs of homeless animals in Sumter County. The public is invited to come out to help us celebrate. We’ll have tours of the facility, food and fun. Bring your pet and have a Christmas-themed photo taken. At 11:00 am Boondocks K-9 Search and Rescue will demonstrate the skills of their canines, including HS/SPCA alumnus Hershey in her new career!

Best of all, we will have our wonderful, adoptable animals; and, in honor of the Grand Opening, we will offer a $25 discount on ALL adoptions that day. If you haven’t been down to our Lake Panasoffkee shelter recently, come on down and see all the new and positive changes. If you’ve never been to the shelter, please come to see the facility and learn what YOUR HS/SPCA is all about.

The Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-based organization helping all animals in need throughout Sumter County, Florida. Donations directly help to cover the cost of saving, treating, and caring for neglected, abused and abandoned animals. To find out more about the HS/SPCA, visit hsspca.org, 352-793-9117, visit them on Facebook or at the shelter located at 994 CR 529A, in Lake Panasoffkee, Mon.-Sat.
