Check with the local pet shelters, some are offering very low cost adoptions, just saw an add on Television for several kitties, no idea if they have any Siamese. I have had cats for close to 50 years, up to 4 at one time, and all were rescues, 4 of them were black cats.

Yes they do, we currently have a Tuxedo, and she is a great lap cat.

I stand corrected and I apologize. Please don't zap me, at least not till Halloween (the best holiday of all). 👻

Also remember - if you're getting a kitten, and you're a senior citizen, you'll need to decide if you'll be able to still take care of it (bend down to clean the litter box every day, change food and water every day) 15 years from now. If not, maybe consider adopting an adult cat, 4-6 years old. |

Our stray jet black cat showed up at our door just before Halloween. Named her Mephistopheles (Misty for short). Great cat. Unfortunately about a year later, although we tried to keep her a “house cat” she decided to leave town around Halloween. Had a tabby, a sealpoint Siamese, a pure white, etc. All in all, six cats all at different times, with and without a dog. Now? Only a Lhasa Apso dog who has no time for any competitors in the house.

and will they outlive you? One of my cats lived to be 20 years old.

Had two tuxedo cats in my life, both were particularly aloof (the second one showed up at our door one day and never left; he’s about 15 now).
Best cat we ever had was a Siamese. Best of luck to OP in finding one. |

Check with Sheltering Hands, they have new thrift store in Lady Lake. Also contact the Crazy Cat Club of the Villages. Look on Facebook ,The Village Word of Mouth. Recently there were two adult Siammese who needed a home. Please try to adopt. So many kitties need rescue. Sheltering Hands has a program for seniors that is wonderful.

My daughter worked at a shelter and black cats - even tuxedos - are the last to go because of superstitions. Many people miss great pets as a result. I can recommend the Leesburg Humane society for kittens (did not visit others nearby). They have a great approach to kittens and how they are socialized (lots is time with volunteers!!). They also seem to take “reservations” for kittens that are still too young for adoption as we were told when we walked in “the orange kitten is already spoken for”. All kittens have shots and are spayed/ neutered before adoption. I would call them and see if they get many Siamese if that is what you want. Personally - I would go “meet” some kittens and see which one speaks to your heart! |
