So, after sitting with him for just maybe 10 min, I am going to delay letting him go until after the weekend. I put my hand in and started rubbing his ear and chin and his motor started up immediately. Purr, purr, purr! He relaxed, he stretched out his legs and his eyes started to close. I could tell he was getting comfortable. Of course when I make another movement his eyes dilate and he gets scared. This is exactly how my Lily was when I got her at a year old out of that parking lot. He will be scared and hide, but if someone adopts him and keeps petting him and picking him up, he will eventually relax. I think Lily hid for about a month or so. But now she is very much a lap cat. Of course, if he is adopted, he can never go outside as he will be scared and run away but he will get used to his home inside and/or in a lanai.
Does anyone want to take on the challenge? Its SO worth it in the end!! I just hate to let him go when he is purring and relaxing.

Bless your heart for all you do. There was someone that lost their cat name Sammy that was devastated. Maybe she would be interested in helping this poor kitty? I have 2 dogs and currently living in Georgia - wish I could take him.

Will the Sumter SPCA take in an adoptable kitty? Just hate to see a kitty with promise go back to a life with no future.

Yes, I met her 1-2 weeks ago. I trapped a cat that I thought was hers and took it to her to see if it was. Turns out it was not, but she had just adopted 2 other cats. But thank you for the suggestion!

Unfortunately not. I called last week and they said they were dealing with upper respiratory infection and could not take any. Cat Protectors also could not. They have 40 kittens now and said they are basically growing up there due to lack of adoption. That is why I post on here all the time. I know some people may get tired of seeing my posts, but last year I received a good response from Villagers who were interested in adopting. Thank you, everyone for all your help and ideas!!

Default give this guy a chance.

OMG, to release this kitty back would be awful but you can only do so much and lovinganimals has a household of kitties as I do. Please tell your neighbors and friends about this kitten. Lets get him a home! Thank you lovinganimals for your compassion towards feral cats.

Unfortunately I had to release him earlier today because I did not get any responses. Good news is when I let him go he meowed and one of the other kittens stopped in his/her tracks and waited for him to catch up. I was afraid they would not accept him back into the colony but looks like they did.

The cats are being fed by a nice man who works at Winn Dixie so I think they get fed whenever he gets there. He told me he works on weekends and he drives a yellow golf cart. If you stand looking at Winn Dixie's front door, he parks it on the RIGHT side along the parking lot that leads to the back. The kittens are fed in the part of the lot right in front of a chiropractor and Frost and Frost Financial. You can stop by on a weekend and place in in his cart. He is very nice. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. I know his name is Tom. Other than that, I don't know anything about him so the only other thing would be to drop the food off at my house and I would do the same thing I just described above. My address is in my profile.
Thank you for your generosity
ps- its the one at Lake Sumter
